I'm sure the Celtics will be added to national TV if their play warrants it.

I counted 18 sets of back-to-backs, not 18 games. Unless you're only counting the 2nd game as the back-to-back? And is that really fewer than last season?

Yeah. 18 sets of back to back. And surprisingly, ya, we had 20 last season I believe.

I'm not too bothered by it. I think we'll get more TV time as the team continues to get better over the next 2-3 seasons.

As far as the schedule goes, to be honest with you, I wish this Celtics team could take the 10 best teams in the league and play all of them 10 times this season. That would be the best way for this young group to grow the most, the fastest.

I love a tough schedule for this team - let them get their noses dirty early and often.

Fewer nationally televised games means Ainge might be able to re-sign Rondo for less.

Honestly... suck it up.

Celtics are just getting the treatment many other franchises get every year.  And there's a reason for getting that treatment, but all teams have fans that want to watch their team on national TV.

The first fourteen games look brutal?  Hate to break it to you, but with this squad pretty much all 82 games look tough.

And complaining about not being on national TV?   That's what you get for sucking.

NBA GM's don't rely on TNT or ESPN to scout players. Every competent franchise in the league knows which players fit in their system and judge players on advanced metrics that even hard core fans don't understand.

They make mistakes, they make puzzling contract decisions, but the days of Elgin Baylor, and David Kahn are pretty much over.

Except Billy King. That guy is Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing stupid.

the schedule doesn't matter imo......its not going to make any signifigance on our season, as we arent particularly good.

the less nationally televised games, the better......game will move quicker, less tv timeouts, and mike gorman (and tommy)

I don't think the complaint here is about the Celtics not getting National TV, but more so about teams less deserving (like the Lakers) getting an absurd amount of it, including the Christmas game.

So your "there's a reason for getting that treatment" premise doesn't quite track on this particular regard.

Not sure why people get all excited, for good or bad, over the schedule. I haven't looked at it but let me take a few guesses:

1. The C's play 82 games
2. The C's play every team out West 2 times once at home and once away
3. The C's play most East teams 3 times and some teams 4 times
4. The C's have two west coast road trips, one around the Christmas/New Year holiday and one in February
5. The C's have a tough Texas trip
6. The C's have somewhere between 18 -21 back to back games.
7. The C's have at least one and possibly two 5 games in 7 days stretches
8. The C's play 41 road games and 41 home games.

You know, its pretty much the same thing every year. If the C's are perceived to be good, they play a lot of national games. If they are perceived to be bad, not so much. Its been like this since Bird retired.

Just don't see what there is to get all excited about, Its not like this is the NFL where the schedule is so different due to the number of games played making the schedule very important. In the NBA, everything evens out and is the same, every year, eventually.

That's right, the fact that Los Angeles is a massive market that will draw a televised audience despite being awful makes them less deserving than the Celtics for a Christmas game.  ::)

Exactly.

And frankly I don't care.  I'm used to the favoritism with the Lakers and Kobe.   There are a lot of people in the media and public that would probably say Kobe will be one of the best players in the league this year.  And I've seen a lot of talk about how bad the Celtics will be but the Lakers?  Not so much.  And they look like they should be even worse.

I'll be kicking back, having a drink, laughing, watching what will almost certainly be a blow out on national TV.  It's all good.

I believe I said it once in this thread already, but we get to watch the Lakers get blown out on Christmas. Most "all Celtics fans should" statements are wrongheaded, but surely all Celtics fans can appreciate that?

It'll be like that 2010 whipping LeBron gave them again?  I loved that.
