Can the AB signing be part of a sign and trade or would that have already been stipulated?

We'd have known about it. We really agreed with AB on the contract he got for him to continue playing here.

You can't sign a player and immediately trade them anymore (unless it's designed as a S&T) partially because of us and the Lakers when GP was sent here, iirc.

Only reason I can see for signing Bazemore is if there's a deal to thin out the 5 players they already have for the backcourt.

much more interested in Hill.  wouldn't mind bringing Hump back if we can unload Bass

I want Jordan Hill a lot. Fills our needs, gets us a very efficient rebounder, and he had lots of offensive rebounds with the Lakers which would benefit us a lot. There were a lot of games where we didn't get many offensive rebounds and instead have the other team offensive rebounds a lot.

Personally, Bazemore would probably be a depth move in case another guard gets injured. I wouldn't mind if he signs for cheap but I would prefer to take Hill. Isaiah Thomas is a possibility but I figure that means Smart moves to SG (unlikely) or Pressey is gone. But he is an efficient scorer and tbh we don't have many scoring guards.

This doesn't make sense after the AB signing. We'd have Rondo, Pressey,Smart ,AB, Johnson, Young all in the guard positions.

Somebody/s must be getting moved if they are looking at Bazemore. I guess Young could get moved to the SF spot. But still.

Man I have a feeling, not just on the Celtics end, but all around things are going down, and DA is getting things ready to throw in.

I highly doubt Johnson will be back.  Young isn't going to get much playing time this season at all.

Rondo and probably AB will be the starting backcourt.  Limit ABs mins to 28 or so per night.  Have Smart fill as a SG when Rondo is on the court, then as a PG when Rondo is off.  Function again as a SG in the limited minutes Pressey will get if he's back with us.  Bazemore and Young can fill in the gaps as needed.

I don't see a huge problem in terms of playing time.

I believe it can be a S&T still----nothing has been signed yet...Maybe the "Over Pay" was because they are shipping hm to Minnesota.

The contract hasn't been signed yet. According to an interview with his agent it still can get moved in a S&T.

We wouldn't hear about it, because the deal either hasn't gone threw yet, teams are waiting for other deals to happen(Lebron,Melo), or the league hasn't agreed on it. We haven't heard of any sign and trades yet, but I bet after Weds, a bunch will pop up. No one would say some thing, because of what happened with the Doc and Clippers thing.

Might be why AB got a big payday. DA offered 6 last year, which is fair for some one that brings what AB brings to the table. His scoring was up, but D was down because of the team concept. I don't see DA as the guy that would cave into AB's demands, at best he'd meet him half way. Especially since he didn't even get to 70 games.

Or it could be extra for a wink, wink, nudge, nudge, for staying out a little longer with the ankle injury so they could loose a couple more games.  ;)

Who said the Boston Celtics aren't a destination for big name free agents?

Bazemore will also meet with the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow. Apparently there was confusion as there were reports Hawks and Bazemore reached a deal but that was false, instead Bazemore will meet Atlanta tomorrow.

If we got isiah Thomas Id throw up.

Yeah why would we want a guard who is an elite scorer? True celtics fans know the key to success is building a roster with guards who cant shoot.

Isiah Thomas ain't no elite scorer. He's an above average scorer who's been given a lot of shots (16 per game) and opportunity, yet he's still a defensive liability which makes him a neutral to slightly positive value player.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."
