Jordan is the best example.

George Gervin could do both but was more famous for the finger roll than his dunk.

When I think stroke it, I think of the 3 ball, so just there I may disagree with some people who are talking about mid range games, but people saying Jordan are just wrong.

Look at the stats, in his first 5 seasons Jordan made 58 total 3's.  That's an average of less than 12 a year.

In 11 of of his 15 seasons, he made less than 30 3's (though this does include 2 partial seasons where he played 17 and 18 games).

In 9 seasons he shot under 30% from deep, and 5 of those he shot under 20%.

Sure, he had a few years where he shot alot and made a lot ('90, '93, '96, and '97), but people act like he did it for his whole career.  And in '96 and '97 he wasn't really stuffing it like he used to.

He usually wasn't a threat to stroke it from deep.  Attacking the rim and the mid range game were his strengths.

And not that this a real barometer, but interesting tidbit that supports my point, lowest total score in the 3 point contest ever?  That would be Michael Jordan with 5.  No one talks about that record though...

I think if the standard is being set so high for "stroker" and "stuffer" then the list is going to be way too short and only consist of the elite guys like Kobe and Jordan.

Also, some guys have the hangtime and can win dunk contests but they can't necessarily do it in a game unless they're wide open. I don't remember Brent Barry driving and jamming on people too often, for example.

How about Wesley Matthews? He's OK at dunking, right? And is Gerald Green considered a good enough shooter now?
