1) Smart can guard 3 positions , not 1 and a half like Bradley(the half being smaller SG's), Smart is also a much more versatile player on offense . He can finish at the rim unlike Bradley, He has PG and Play making skills unlike Bradley, and can give Rondo some rest .

2) Rondo isn't going to get a good return in any trade this year , or maybe ever. He is much more valuable to the C's than other teams who would be trading for him , and is still a top 20 player

3) If we let Bradley Walk , there is a good chance we would have enough cap room to re-sign Rondo and still have enough money to add another Max free agent ( Love or Gasol) next year

4) If Rondo is gone we completely take ourselves out of any chance at landing a big time free agent , taking away avenues for management to go down . By keeping Rondo we have so many more options . Trading him for peanuts doesn't do anything for us .

I think Bradley is a goner

If we let Bradley walk and restructure Wallace, what's our cap situation this summer ?

This summer doesn't do us any good because Bass and Anthony are still on our salary . Next summer would be when we have a ton of cap space 30 mil +

I think people have this whole discussion backwards. It's secondary what Rondo means to the rebuild. Sure, it would be nice to have him around to entice other FAs, but we are on the clock, not Rondo and not any other teams. If we can't put a contender around him in 1 year, he will leave for nothing, and can't help us with our rebuild, anyway.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I think if they can sign AB to a cheap reasonable short term contract around 4 million a season, keep him as part of a package trade to add a star later down the road to join Rondo.

If another team wants to pay him more, work out a sign and trade to add another chip.

There is nothing wrong with having to many players at a position if you are looking to make a trade in the near future.
