So clueless what the Celtics will do next.

1. - Do they have to use the pierce trade exception this summer?

2. - Does Jeff Green have any trade value?

3. - Do the Celtics have any chance at Deandre Jordan if the Clippers make a run at Lebron?

1-- Use it or lose it.  By the 10th or so of July I think. (one year from when it was acquired)

2-- He's got to. Dude can play, he's just not an alpha dog.

3-- Interesting. In order for the Clips to make a run at Lebron while keeping Blake, they have to dump salary without taking any back.  We have a trade exception, Bogans, and maybe another non guaranteed contract.  I wonder if Doc wouldn't mind having his next years 1st rounder back?

1 -- The date is July 12th.  The trade didn't occur until a couple days after the moratorium due to procedural issues about Kris Joseph (he'd been signed April 12th, and wasn't allowed to be traded for three months after that signing).

3 -- You can't combine Bogans and the trade exception for Jordan.  However, as I posted in another thread about this same topic earlier today, Bogans+Pressey+Johnson+Babb willl be able to absorb Jordan's contract.  They're all non-guaranteed, so that will clear the room that LA hypothetically wants.  I don't think they'll bite, but that's how the salary matching can work.

1. I hope so, but right now I'd say no, those always seem hard to use.

2. He does, but right now he and Wallace are they only SFs, so I doubt they move him.

3. Doubt we get Deandre Jordan, when are we allowed to trade with the Clippers again?

4. Can we finally get rid of Bass?

5. Will we get a Center?

6. Do we resign AB?

I think Jordan would be part of the reason Lebron would be going to the clippers. I think Blakes the one to go if they get Lebron.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Get a Center.

We can reduce the log jam at PF spot. Bass is now an expiring contract, so talent wise and financial flexibility wise, he's a good trade chip.

Use it, and/or along with what else we have to get a Center. Who suggested Kosta Koufos, and he's a solid option to go after.

Marcin Gortat, Greg Monroe and Pau Gasol would be tough, but one could hope.

We can trade for Larry Sanders maybe, using Bass and maybe some future picks.

I've been riding the Jason Smith bandwagon, so there's that.

I'd try and give Andris Biedrins a look. He was an overpaid Center who showed 3 years of brilliance that earned him his big payday, and then just took a shot on his confidence and just went, well, beans. It wouldnt be a good idea to resign him for $9 million, but we can probably explore the idea of signing him for the minimum or a portion of the MLE.

A lot of the teams that the Celtics might make a trade with are rumored to be interested in Carmelo Anthony, so the next move is probably to wait and see what other teams are doing.

Without trading away Bass, Anthony or Wallace, Ainge could offer Gortat 10 mil a year, give 7 mil a year to Bradley and still only be a few million over the salary cap after signing the rookies.

He's got to make a big decision.  Signing Gortat would almost certainly make Boston not just a playoff contender but a potential 4 seed.  Is that a more attractive situation for someone like Love or another big name free agent than a lesser team that has more cap space?  Given the new rules that really punish top-level FAs who leave, I hope he goes for the bird in the hand.

Send AB packing, money saved & used on Humphries. Austin Rivers added via the bargain bin.

Rondo, Rivers
Smart, Young
Green, Wallace, Johnson

Add 1 or two all star veteran bigs (Love and/or both Gasol's), & have Hump back them up.

Love/Hump
Gasol/Hump

1st target Love.
If no Love, target the Gasol brothers via trade. Pau at the 4, Marc at the 5. Hump backing up both.
