comparable?? except Johnson is a better defender and Young is younger and more skilled on the offensive end.

Both have a 7" wingspan are about 6'6 and are decent shooters (edge goes to Young).

Can Johnson become any better?  How much better can Young become on both ends of the court?

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
James Young (or atleast from what I've read) is a scorer, not just a shooter. He's got an ability to get to the rim.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Johnson is an energy player too."...he crashes the boards and goes after the loose balls and garbage plays like crazy.

It won't be easy for Young to take Johnson's place with shooting alone.......he have to earn the coaches playing tine.....and that is doing the small things to help a team for Stevens

Chris Johnson is a guy that you see when you want a lotto pick. If he and Pressey are seeing 20+ minutes, you know you want an L

He's a solid effort guy but, Young's ceiling is WAY higher than Johnson. Already a better shooter and scorer and has the tools to be a lengthy solid defender

I guess it seems like we ought to compare them, but Chris Johnson is six years older than James Young. No question Johnson is the better all around player right now- light years ahead on defense, better outside shooter, and probably more hustle to boot. Young is likely more dangerous with the ball in his hands, though, even today, at age 18.

I like Chris Johnson a lot, and he'll still improve, but odds are that by the time Young has a few years in the league under his belt he's going to be in a different stratosphere.

First half of his rookie year? Well I'll take Johnson probably. After the All Star game though? I'd probably put Young first. Depth is depth and the Celtics have had horrible death for years with overpaid players who couldn't produce at the time (Terry, Lee).
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!
