I'll focus on James  Young here, I'm really disappointed in his ball handling and defense. Experts were saying he has great tools for defense but I sure didn't see much of that. He actually looks pretty bad at it. Flat footed, high stance, little effort. Doesn't fight through screens. And the fifth worse SG% out of 100 PG in 2pt FG% really?? That seems odd seeing he's a shooter. FG .408%  overall is also very disappointing.

That said he's a 6'7" shooting guard with a quick release, near 7 foot wingspan, solid athleticism, very young, still a lot to like.

James Young seems like a player with a fairly immature attitude to the game. Doesn't really contribute to his team if he isn't hitting shots. Rest of game is underdeveloped. Doesn't work hard defensively. Mediocre rebounder. Not a passer. Basic ball-handling. Only useful to his team when his shots are going in. Was a surprisingly inefficient and inconsistent scorer.

Good tools to work with and great opportunity for growth. Type of guy a coach likes to have as a project. Lot of upside. A guy who could be really good if open to coaching, and to changing his game, and, is molded in the right way and in the right environment.

Reminds me quite a bit of Nick Young in that sense.

The upside is good but I am not that excited about the pick. Lot of work to do for him to become a good NBA player. If drafting a project player, I'd have rather taken the big man Cllint Capela.

The kid is still 18 and was the most clutch player on his team in the title game!  Kentucky/Cal coaches for two primary goals - win the title each year w one year rentals and get the kids to the nba highlighting their talents.

We have no idea how much the kid was asked to focus on defense or how hard cal tried to get him to play differently.

He may have done everything his coach asks of him.  Stevens will ask him for more.  To assume he is immature or a nick young or a defensive liability is kinda silly. Let's see how the kid does w some real coaching from one of the best teachers in the game.

Rodney Hood should have been the pick at #17, no doubt in my mind. Just a much better all around scorer.

He strikes me as a different kind of guard that Ainge likes -- the Crawford/Nate Robb style of heat check guy.

Hood is three years older I believe....I'm sure who will be better.  On a side note this kid has one of the best in game big dunk moments I've ever seen....

From what I have seen of Young is that he has a very weak right hand, always going left.
