as much as Danny may tell us Rondo and Smart can play together(which may in fact be true), the reality is if we're "going young", "rebuilding", etc. it makes absolutely no sense to keep Rondo. signing him to a max deal is a waste of time and money while the kids grow up. plus he's probably not going to want to be around for it.

trading for Love at mid-season(the deal the Celtics clearly want, so they can add to Rondo) makes no sense for this team because Love could realistically be here only 2 months, which is not much time to see what these 2 can do together. plus, any number of things could happen in the process.

the "Rondo and Smart can play together" is just to keep everyone calm.

I don't think it's set in stone that we're going young and going with the full rebuild.

Bingo.

Danny said the hardest part of his job was the lying.

well if we're going into next season again with the intent to not be really bad but somewhere just out of the playoffs is a bad idea unless we have dreams of signing some big name free agents next yr., including Rondo.

I just think we need to commit to something soon.

The thing I hate about sports fans for any team is they jump the gun too quick.. All these people saying "get rid of Rondo" or lets put our heads down "we are rebuilding".. "or our draft sucks"... CMON!!! first.. the Celtics nailed the draft with the picks they had, did you really expect them to get the #1 pick or to overpay for Love? Second free agency hasnt even started yet. Third there are months to get something done in a trade... Rondo will be a top 3 pure point guard every year he is in the league, he doesnt want to leave, let DA do his job.. He turned this team around once already and he got a stockpile of picks out of KG and PP just before they bit the dirt... how can you all criticize that? He will make it happen, be patient.

I feel that eventually Rondo will be dealt. I said before the draft, as well as many on here, that if we draft Marcus Smart romeo will have to go.

I just pray we can get something meaningful for Rondo. This is not a very strong "rebuild" roster. Build a franchise around Smart? Build a franchise around Sully? Build a franchise around Olynyk? All second fiddle guys at best. Ugh.

Sadly, I just don't buy we can get a young potential All-Star for RR. His name being in rumors constantly has inevitably reduced his value. If it hadn't, he'd have been traded by now. Best chance seems like Sacramento, and I'm not fond of anything they (realistically) have to offer. Indiana also doesn't make a ton of sense for the Celtics.

Not a lot of other obvious deals out there. Sucks.
