Jared Dudley has fallen into the abyss known as Doc's Doghouse in LA.  Honestly, he stunk this year, so he deserved it to some extent.

However, prior to this year he was a perfectly capable NBA small forward.  His deal is very reasonable ($4.25 million next year, and the same the following year with an early termination option).  The Clippers are said to want to move him, and seem to be willing to pay to clear his salary.  The going rate for a salary dump with 2 years left and that kind of salary is a protected/late first or a couple of seconds.  The Clippers have no seconds for several years, and can't even protect a first until 2017, but they do have pick #28 this year.  So if we could ship Jeff Green somewhere, how about Bogans for Dudley and #28?  He could be a great change-of-scenery candidate, and if he rebounds to his production in Phoenix, he'd be a bargain at his salary.

Thoughts?

I have no interest in Dudley, but sure if he nabs us another 1st round pick and we give up nothing. Overall, I don't see a future for him. He found a niche for a while, but he's a short power forward trying to play 3 and it's never going to really work.

I'd like to save the Bogans chip for a higher impact move, I think. Combining him with Green for an bigtime upgrade at the wing, for instance.

I wouldn't be interested in Jared Dudley as a starter. Not athletic enough to physically matchup with top SFs in league. Dudley is a strong backup SF and a good defender in that role but he is overwhelmed physically as a starter. So I wouldn't view him as a solution for filling that starting SF spot if Jeff Green was moved elsewhere.

I would like to have Dudley as a backup SF but that is a hard sell with Gerald Wallace and his oversized contract on the books. $15 million a year for a pair of reserve SFs? Not good. I think we'll just have to live with Gerald Wallace as the backup SF for the time being.

Yeah, probably best to keep that trade asset until we see how other trade possibilities (K-Love, Asik, etc.) play out. Hate to miss out on someone who can make an impact just for a late first rounder (low likelihood at even being rotation player).
