LeBron James, Superstar without a home

Has there ever been a superstar of the magnitude of LeBron James that has changed teams not once but twice at the height of his career? Will Miami always be seen as Dwayne Wade's team? Does Wade have to be moved for Lebron to be able to put his stamp on Miami? Does LeBron have to leave Miami and return to Cleveland to truly have his 'own team'? Did LeBron force a 'tank' in Cleveland so he could return to a much stronger Cleveland team after three years?

I don't remember any superstar of James' magnitude moving not once but twice at the height of their career. I believe that as long as Wade is on that team it will always be seen as his team. At the most LeBron can only share that mantle with him, but cannot wrest it away as long as Wade is still on the team. Yes Wade has to be moved for LeBron to build his own legacy in Miami. The easiest way for LeBron to have his own team and legacy is to move back to Cleveland and invite or recruit other players to join him in winning titles in that city. I don't think LeBron is that shrewd to leave Cleveland so the team can acquire assets in preparation for his return to a loaded team, on the other hand I do not put this manipulation beyond the NBA.

In terms of superstars of LeBron's magnitude...I would say unfortunately there are not many players that fit in that category.

If we are just talking great players and HOF'ers, sure, many. You could use the recent discussions about Ray Allen as an example. Which team will he be remembered with? Bucks, Supersonics, Celtics, Heat?

I think Lebron should sign a one year contract with whatever team he thinks gives him the best chance to win for the MLE or league minimum.  He doesn't need the money anyway.  He should do this every year for the rest of his career and win a championship without having to work hard and carry his crappy teammates.  Every year he would host an annual ESPN charity special to celebrate his greatness and announce which team would be blessed with his talents.  It would be perfect for him.
