  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It's looking unlikely, but for a bit of hope...

A few days before the NBA draft in 2007, Kevin Garnett and his agent killed an already agreed upon trade between the T Wolves and Celtics, because they had 'no interest what so ever' in going to the Celtics.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2912075

That was 3 or 4 days before the NBA draft in 2007.

A few days later on draft night 2007, and Danny pulled off the Ray Allen trade.
People often think we drafted Green, but the trade was actually announced before Durant was even selected by the Sonics.
Presti wanted to build a defensive foundation from the ground up, and Ainge was happy to send him the 5th pick, Delonte and Wally Szerbs for a 7 time All Star.

That got the ball rolling for bigger things to come...
BUT, remember that it was over a month after draft night until KG became a Celtic in late July.

Danny may have to make some pre-cursor moves, to get pieces that Flip wants in return for Love. So a deal might not be done on draft night, but unless Love is traded to another team, you can bet your %(*^ Danny will be doing all he can to get the extra pieces to get us over the line.

Just a bit of perspective to remind you that if Love is still in a Timberwolves uniform after draft night, that the season doesn't start until late October.

Patience gents. And ladies.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.

It's too bad the forums from that time got lost in the Great Purge.  That whole summer was a pretty fun & amazing time around here.  Certainly a roller coaster ride.

lol I dunno how fun and amazing it will be if we prepare for another year of tanking!
I don't know what the Wolves are gonna do now though. I guess there's still time.
Lets hope Flip likes Marcus Smart.

I wonder if Danny never offered the pick and would rather wait and try and nab him before deadline?

Problem this time around however is that Minnesota DOESN'T want to deal Love to the Celts, whereas McHale was willing to deal KG here.

Flip Saunders can stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
