Smart trade for Utah.

Not so much for Cleveland. Favors too similar to T.Thompson = bad fit. Plus Favors hasn't progressed well enough to sacrifice #1 pick over.

Plus, Favors is on a pretty big contract.

That sounds like a blatant ripoff.  What is wrong with Cleveland?  It's not that hard.  Oh well, they'll just get the 1st pick next year anyway  ::)  Ridiculous.

Joel Embiid of Kansas has a broken foot and needs surgery. And now that piece of news has thrown everyone?s draft projections into disarray.

Embiid was listed at No. 1 in Mock Draft 4.0, but he won?t be at the top in the next edition. So does that mean the Cavs will not draft him? Perhaps not.

The Cavs are now looking at trading down a couple of spots, believing that Embiid will still be available. And with the Philadelphia 76ers coveting Andrew Wiggins, it becomes a question of whether they?d be willing to trade up from No. 3 to No. 1 ? a move that would probably cost them Thaddeus Young.

The Utah Jazz also are discussing a deal with the Cavs that would send Derrick Favors and the No. 5 pick to Cleveland for the No. 1 pick, which the Jazz would use to select Jabari Parker.

The latest news of Embiid, plus much more info on next week?s draft, comes from draft guru Joe Kotoch in this interview with 1280TheZone in Salt Lake

Why can't the Cavs just choose Wiggins? He's a safer bet.

The Cavs are desperately searching for a way to screw up yet again.

It's a classic conundrum of choosing between the safer bet or the player with the higher ceiling.

The things is Wiggins and Embiid both are projected to have very high ceilings.

True, but at least Wiggins doesn't have injury issues that could sabotage his career.  His dad, however, Mitchell Wiggins (now there's a blast from the past), was suspended in the 86-87 for doing coke, if I'm remembering that correctly.  Hopefully, he grew up in an environment that did not encourage such activities so that he doesn't follow in his father's footsteps.  You'd hate for anything like that to happen.  I'm sure that Mitchell has done everything he can to make sure that his son will not repeat his mistakes, but I must admit that I don't know a lot about the kid.  There's nothing to suggest that Andrew Wiggins is anything other than a great kid, but I just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone who doesn't know, although I don't think such a piece of information could exactly be filed under 'fun facts'.

#6, Clippers pick, and Sullinger for #1?
I don't think I would do that if I were the Celtics...

You would if you thought the player you want is a potential superstar. I don't know if anyone in this draft will be, but I trust Danny to make that decision.

Really?

I do that trade in a heartbeat.  For the opportunity to draft Parker, that is a steal for the Celtics.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
They need a small forward and Green's been mentioned before with the Cavs.

Perhaps they'd listen to:

#6
#17
#2016 Brooklyn pick
+ Sully
+Green
for number 1.

We take Jabari Parker, they take Vonleh or Embid at #6 and now have Green and some good potential at #17 in Shabazz Napier in case Waiters doesn't pan out.
