It was pretty clear last year when the Sixers rattled off 20+ straight losses they were not exactly gunning for a playoff spot. Personally I didn't mind because I dislike all Atlantic teams rather seriously.

Next year is a bit different, as we have the chance to receive their lottery protected pick. With that said I ask you all:

What are the chances Philadelphia,

1. Tries to make the playoffs
2. Actually makes the playoffs

Philly going to have a ton of Rookies and 2nd year guys on their team that they're going to have to figure out who's worth keeping. They got money to spend, but I don't see them going crazy with the free agents. Expect them to be competitive (not hard in the east) but will still be a pretty bad team.

Yeah, that's what my realistic side told me.

That means Crawford turns into Philly's 2015 2nd rounder, no?

And another one in 2016. We also got a 2nd rounder from Miami in 2016.

On the question, I also don't see this young of a roster going anywhere but bottom 5.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

they're likely in the lottery again unless
- MCW plays like an all-star
- Noel and whoever they get at #3 are competing for ROY
- #10 plays just below that level
- some of those second round picks play like quality rotation players.

in short, it would take a miracle and since they're first in the next draft is riding on poor performance, bank on them missing the playoffs no matter what

Tough question to answer right now because of two things:

1) The rookies (Two Top 10 picks)
2) Nerlens Noel

Yes, their team will be young.  All it takes is 1 or 2 of those young draftees to make an impact,  & if they do, they'll make the playoffs easily in the East.  That's what you have to look for early on.

They had what, a 26 game losing streak last year ?  Yet they still were only 19 games out of the playoffs in that conference.  Anything can happen in that conference and 1 or 2 rookies could make the difference.

Yeah, my hope is that the organization wants to ingrain a 'winning mentality' in the young guys. Bottom dwelling for two seasons isn't exactly enjoyable no matter how many baby steps you take.

I have a friend working for the Sixers in their sales department and he tells me they're having a lot of difficulty selling tickets. I can't imagine in a city like Philadelphia they want to have sustained failure.
