LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Clippers have restructured their basketball leadership, changing coach Doc Rivers' front-office title to president of basketball operations.
Rivers will continue to coach the Clippers under the changes made Monday.
Longtime Rivers assistant Kevin Eastman will become the Clippers' vice president of basketball operations, reporting to Rivers and supervising the franchise's basketball dealings.

Lebron will end up with the Clippers if he cant get wade and Bosh to cut their salary, so they can sign Melo.

Clippers= Warm weather, big market , championship caliber supporting cast who are relatively young. Championship caliber coach(much better than spo-bot) . He would also have a rim protector instead of Bosh . He would get to get paid the max in a s+t for Blake.

I say it is a 50/50 between LA Clips and Miami.

Agreed......good points...just don't underestimate the savy of Pat Riley .....he is a crafty customer...

He might be sizing up Clippers to,take some of their players.

I don't think James leaves THIS year,  he actually was pretty loyal and I believe he'll give Riley a chance to retool the team.

Basically Wade needs to,go ......he is going to be Wallace in another year ....way overpaid for a broken body.

That would be interesting.

Agreed. I think Lebron stays in Miami, at least for another year. However, if Miami doesn't do well next year, then opting out becomes a bigger possibility.

Hey, we'll have more cap space next summer, right? 8)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I know that Lebron and his wife apparently love LA, but I don't know why he would ever leave the eastern conference. For the forseeable future, he really doesn't have any competition to get to the finals. He should settle in and exert his dominance over eastern conference opponents - wherever that may be.

We'll see how this oaks out but I almost feel like Doc gets too attached to his players to do this job effectively.  You got to be willing to get rid of a guy you love based on certain offers and that's a lot different to do when hour the trigger man and not just the guy that agrees it has to be done.

That said, he's in a great spot with tons of trade able players/contracts and a contending team in a large market.  And after the Sterling fiasco, Doc is a smart choice because players like him.

I didn't realize this was news just now. I thought Doc went to the Clippers with the clear understanding he'll have managerial control over the franchise.

Yeah, I thought the same. I think this is a change to his title, but not his scope of duties.

Doc is in over his head to coach and act as GM.  You can't be too close to the players and be a great GM.  That is why Danny is so good.  He doesn't get emotional. I think Doc is a great coach, especially of vets.  But do you think he would be able to pull the trigger on the KG/Pierce Nets trade?  Which may go down as the best trade in the last year plus?? No way.
