Well if they give up #8 and McLemore without the assurance that Love re-signs, that's pretty significant.
I think most teams have offers that are contingent on Love re-signing... and as much as they keep saying it's not the case, Love's agent will probably leverage his client to the team he wants to play for: The Lakers
I think that is why Danny has expressed comfort in a deal where Love is not committed to extension--because he does not have to give up that much, and can see how it the trade works before extending him, as well as confidence that Love will want to stay in Boston once he comes.
I think Danny's saying that because that's the best deal for Love.
If Love goes somewhere and doesn't sign an extension, then Love can opt out of year 5 and re-sign with the same club for 5 years with 7.5% annual raises with his Bird rights in that location, rather than having to sign outright somewhere in the summer of 2015 for only 4 years and 4.5% annual raises. IOW, financially, it's better for Love to go where he wants to be eventually right away. That's why Danny's saying he will take him as is.
I think Love will quash any places he doesn't want to go myself, and Sacramento would be near the very top of that list. The Kings making it known they would do this deal is mostly for their fans consumption.
