Remember when Danny and Doc tried furiously to trade into the top 10 for a chance to draft Austin Rivers or somebody? Nobody would take picks 21 and 22 for a top 10 pick or thereabouts.

New Orleans could have had a Sully/Davis frontcourt and somebody else at pick 22, instead of Austin Rivers.

Here's a couple trade down possibilities to mull over:

Phoenix has picks 14, 18, and 27
Charlotte has picks 9, 24, and 45.
Chicago has 16 and 19 and 49.

Food for thought.

Let's get this out of the way:

The #6 pick may not yield a star player, but there will be players available there with a LOT more value than a handful of mid to late 1sts.

I have no interest in trading back to the end of the lottery, or out of it altogether.

I've thought about that a bit.  Charlotte's picks and a future first (or Henderson) for the 6 & 17 would be a consideration.  would have to be a draft day deal where the player Danny really wants slides to 9 and they just announce the trade of selected players.

also considering the swap of picks with Sac with them also sending Mclemore provided Danny thinks this kid has something to offer.

I really like Nurkic and Porzingis and Anderson and TJ Warren, in addition to McDermott, Gordon, Smart, and Saric.

Trading back with say PHX could quite possibly result in us ending up with three of them instead of two of them.

Actually, four of them, if we kept 17.

I agree with your list. I'd add Stauskas to that list too as well as Young, LaVine, Anderson, Hood and Napier and KJ .McDaniels.

Taking chances on 4 of those guys, I think we hit big on at least one, and the other two or 3 could be rotation guys.

Better on 4 shots at hitting it as opposed to someone like Gordon. I would rather trade the pick than draft Gordon.

No way. The Celts have more mid to late 1st rounders coming in the next few years than any other team. Why give up #6 to get more?

If anything, I think we should be talking to Orlando in case Embiid slips past Philly. Throw them a future pick and they still get Smart at #6.

The scenario for trading down is if Ainge determines that the guy he thinks is the best player available at #6 (or really close to BPA) will still be available at #9 or #14 and he can pick up some extra assets by moving down.

Trading up or trading down is a draft-day decision targeting a specific player.
