This made the Celticsblog front page.

Deserves a bump. It's a pretty interesting and solid idea with more plausibility than many trade ideas (the Rockets' owner has promised a big FA, Wyc promised fireworks).

A little bored.  Came up with this three way.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k8y9un7

Boston trade Bogans

Receive Jerebko and a future 1st from Detroit

Houston trades Lin

Receive Bogans Harrellson and Siva (all can be waived off the cap)

Pistons trade Jerebko, Harrellson, Siva and a future 1st

Receives Lin

2nd trade Boston sends TE and recieve Asik.

How do we end up with a first from Detroit for only giving up Bogans?

Because Detroit is getting a starting PG, Houston is taking back no salary for two large contracts giving them space to try and sign Melo.

Boston is taking the contract from Detroit that Houston can not afford to take back.

Thanks for the clarify. I would probably make that move then.

Would that be Woody Harrelson?

This is creative, because Lin has more value to a team in need of a PG (Detroit) than Boston. Don't know if we get a 1st.  Probably one of those Philly deals, where we get a protected 1st that converts to a 2nd. I'd still do it, we end up much better than the trades involving just us and Houston.

Interesting idea. Basically buying a 1st from Detroit for the cost of Jerebko's $4.5 million contract for next season (he'd have to exercise the option before he could be traded).

If Detroit doesn't send Charlotte their 1st rounder for this year (top-8 protected), it wouldn't be until two years after that obligation is paid before Boston would see that pick. In other words, 2016 at the absolute earliest, and quite likely (only an 18% chance of lottery odds of falling to 9th or lower) 2017.

probably the most sensible deal I've seen posted this offseason.  completely feasible and not really lopsided in anyone's favor.  Pick may need to be changed to 2 seconds or extended out to 2018 to get Detroit to bite but I'd take it.
