Assume we acquire a top three pick and Detroit and Sac stay where they are at 7 and 8.

Boston receives pick 7, pick 8, next available unprotected kings pick, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, Travis outlaw, and Jonas jerebko.

Detroit receives pick 17, Ben mclemore, Jason terry, and Gerald Wallace.

Sacramento receives rajon rondo and Josh smith.

Boston gets three top 8 picks and remember this is contingent on us getting a top three pick. We avoid the rondo extension situation and dump Wallace. Jerebko and Wallace expire after 2015 and Thompson and Landry should be e movable in Courtney lee like moves. Also add another future unprotected pick to our stash of assets.

Detroit moves back 10 spots but get mclemore a nice young athletic talent to join Caldwell-Pope on the wing. Terry expires in 2015 and Wallace has a deal a year shorter then smiths.

Sacramento is in win now mode. The core of rondo, smith, gay, and DMC is dynamic. I think rondo stays to get a max extension from the kings and throw oops to his buddies Rudy gay and Josh smith.

It is crazy but I would be down for this idea. I think Detroit needs more thanks mclemore to move down that far. Maybe a throw a sign in trade of Isaiah Thomas to Detriot.

How is Jet involved in this deal? Is he not on Brooklyn anymore?

Edit: Completely missed Jet ending up on Sac...I thought he just disappeared. Anyways, don't see this for Detroit. They are totally losing out.

I just don't see it for Detroit.  All that just to get out of Josh Smith's contract and get Ben McLemore?

Isn't Rondo on record as saying he would not agree to extension with SAC?  Any trade involving Rondo in which he would not agree to extension (probably would have to be a top contender or major market like LA or NY) is not going to bring much trade value for Rondo.

Is expect that tune to change with gay and smoove there. Plus easier said then done to turn down a max deal. Doubt anyone would be willing to pay what the kings would be if sac made the deal.

Don't see the incentive in this for Detroit.  I think if we give then Jeff Green, it would make it better for them.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Mclemore on a rookie deal and he's a better fit then smith. Save money. Fewer committed salary to terry(expiring), wallace(2 years) then smith(3 years). Only move down 9 spots to make it happen.

how about this: RR to OKC, Green to Houston. OKC sends Westbrook and Perk to us, and Houston sends Asik to OKC. We might need to send Houston a future first rounder.

-OKC plugs its gaping hole at Center (Perk is really really bad these days) and also gets a PG who complements KD better than Westbrook does
-We add an alpha scorer who is easier to build around than Rondo is, and younger too. Perk's contract is expiring, which is a bonus.
-Houston is posed to lose Asik for nothing in FA, so they're psyched to get so much value for him

The numbers work out: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mgqzad3

You first resign rondo then trade him for  1st round and second round pick. you then draft a point guard  in the draft. trade jeff green and a 1st rounder in the 2015 draft for greg moranoe giving you the center you so desperately need. The reasons to do this are you get a younger star to build around. harden has more potential to be a bigger star then rondo.  the celtics also don't lose as much because they get a top ten point guard to replace rondo which will hurt but not as much as drafting Arron Gordon and sitting and waiting.  The reasons Houston does it, they recently got there butts kicked by the trail blazers when on paper they look better so now they are wondering what is wrong. With this trade they would have rondo, parsons,Lin at SG and Dwight Howard with a 1st rounder for the SF, not to mention the great bench they all ready have.

The idea is certainly creative and well thought out but I don't really believe the Celts are benefitting that much in this deal.

Seems like they are essentially getting draft picks and pu-pu platter of below average players from Sacramento and Detroit.

Who knows, maybe this is essentially what Rondo's trade value is right now but admittedly I think if anyone should say no, it's the Celtics.

The other thing I don't like about this deal (and this is just personal preference) is if such a deal is made, that means that the Celts are clearly not going to be competing anytime soon.

We wouldn't be competing next year. But if we hit on the three top picks (remember this assumes ours is top 3) then we have a solid young core all on rookie deals. Also then you just have to find takers for Landry and Thompson who will give back expirings or trade exceptions.

At that point it's sully, KO, 3 2014 top 8 picks, a likely high 2015 pick, and tons of financial flexibility from 2015 on. Not to mention the other picks we accrued.

Not a bad return for Rondo. I like the idea of getting two lottery picks, and getting out from under Wallace's gruesome contract at the same time. That, combined with the future unprotected 1st round pick would make for a pretty solid haul. Much better than some of the other proposals people have made recently. (Like the weak idea that keeps floating around of trading Rondo for the corpse of Steve Nash & the #6 pick).

But anyways, I'd rather not trade Rondo unless the Celts were receiving another all-star in return. I'd much rather trade Rondo for a known commodity, than for 3 draft picks that could very easily turn into players whom aren't ever half as good as Rondo is right now. Ainge already has a plethora of draft picks at his disposal over the next 5 yrs, so I'd actually prefer to see him start using at least a cpl of those picks as trade assets this offseason. ...That way, the C's can start winning again sooner rather than later, which is much better than dealing with an extended rebuilding project (in my opinion).

Another comment regarding your trade proposal-- I doubt Detroit would be down for that. Also, the Celts would have to line up trade partners in advance for Landry, Thompson, & Jerebko...otherwise our team would have Six power forwards under contract for next yr, which would make it impossible to fill out the other 4 positions adequately.

You already started a separate thread with the same trade idea, word for word. A more appropriate response for this thread would be based around the topic the OP started, rather than just pasting your thread topic into this one.
