If Ainge becomes convinced that Nurkic is the best available player at #5 and can't find a willing partner so he can trade down to pick up additional assets while getting his man for cheaper, then the right thing is for Ainge do what he thinks is best for the team and take Nurkic, even if it is perceived as a "reach".

Lets compare him to valenciunas. Val went 6th.  A little longer , but has half the skills offensively.  Better defensively but not by alot

How high would val get picked if he was included in the 2014 draft?

Nurkic will not last until 17. Dont believe the dummies at nbadraft. Draftexpress has him going early teens and he will keep on moving up imo.

If I were to compare him to Valenciunas, I would make note of the fact that Vale was taken 6th in a terrible draft and was coming off of a dominating Euro Cup performance, whereas Nurkic is entering an extremely strong draft and has been merely good in short minutes in international play.

So in your opinion where would val be drafted if he was available in this upcoming draft?

Nurkic has more upside imo

I hope Danny takes Exum at 5, trades up for Saric at 10 using a future protected pick, then uses Jeff Green and a future pick to take Nurkic at 13. And we'll all be sitting here dead, our minds blown.

When was the last time the Celtics had that many foreign players prominently featured?

DraftExpress currently has Nurkic at 11, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes a little before that.

I think 11 is about the earliest he will go. I don't see him cracking the top-10. I think 12-15 is his likely range but it all depends on the late lottery order.

Counting KO- never.

Never.  The earliest the Celtics have taken foreign players includes:
-Rick Fox (Canada)
-Dino Radja (Croatia)
-Semih Erden (Turkey)

and of course now...
-Kelly Olynyk (Canada)

But Boston has never picked foreign players really early before.  Wiggins obviously would be the exception if he dropped to us, but I don't think we will be picking early enough for that to happen.

No way he goes that early. Has some real size for a nineteen year old (6'11" and 280) and has some solid skills. Really productive in his little minutes though.

Could see him as early as 8, as late as 13th
