Most likely due to his hot head, and his selfish play at hoping to obtain a higher contract, analysts say this might have lowered his contract rate.

Quote
Sean Deveney of The Sporting News heard from a GM around the beginning of February who expected Lance Stephenson to receive offers with eight-figure annual salaries, but an executive now tells Deveney that the soon-to-be free agent will probably command only $7-8MM a year.

If Stephenson goes for under 10 million, I would hope Ainge can possibly try to clear some cap space. Stephenson is still a great player, and an Allstar. If we picked him up, there can definitely be players interested in coming over.

I'm still hoping that a line up of Rondo, Stephenson, Green, Love and Asik happens.

That is a dark horse contender that has four players battle tested and proven in the playoffs. Love has never made it, but with the guidance of Rondo/Stephenson, this may be his best chance at finally making it to the playoffs and not sitting on the couch watching it.

$7 million would be reasonable, but I don't want the piece of garbage anywhere near our team.

If Stephenson goes for under $10m, that makes it a lot more likely that the Pacers can find a way to match without dipping into the luxury tax (currently projected to jump up to $77m), so it would be a matter of either Indiana no longer wanting Stephenson or Stephenson not wanting to be in Indiana even if they offer him the biggest contract.

No way.

He's setting up as one of those guys that's going to get overpaid and, a year or two down the road, that team will regret it.

I don't want to be that team.

You're telling me the Celtics don't want to be like the Bucks?

We both share the same color Green  ;D

Well I guess my post wasn't well received lol.

I think Stephenson is a X-Factor for most things, and has a tenacious attitude. I'm going to see what he does later tonight to determine how I really feel about him.

Yeah, if it's under $10 million ... if it's only $7-8 million, Indiana will be able to keep him. They can afford that. This is just making it possible / easier for Indiana to keep him.

Gotta bid $10+mil to get Lance Stephenson out of Indy.

Why would Indy ever keep Stephenson after his antics?

If Stephenson is such a problem that Indy wouldn't want to keep him around, I fail to see why Boston would want to bring him in.

No.

Looked to me like Stephenson was more concerned with being left off the East All-Star roster than he was with his team's won/loss record during the second half of the season.

Don't want anyone like that wearing Celtic Green.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Don't believe it for a second. There's a difference between being a Larry Sanders kind of gamble and Lance Stephenson.
Has he done anything other than get angry about not being an All Star ?
If he can be had for 10 million or less it's an absolute bargain.
He's an impact player on both ends of the floor and a lot of his 'attitude' problems are completely overblown.
If I was him id be p---ed too the way his team has melted recently.

It's hilarious to me that people would put Avery Bradley at $5-6
million and lance Stephenson at $7-8 million. That's simply insulting to Lance lol.

Read that last line again. One more time.

I've heard it's more than his all star snub.

His play style apparently is not conductive to winningness. Massive ego, too much for his abilities, and not in control of his emotions.
