The Celtics are tied for the 4th and 17th slots and those coin flips (particularly the flip for 4th or 5th) are critical.  Does anyone know when they occur?  Thanks.

If Celtics win the coin flip with Utah, that would leave them with an 83% chance of a top 5 pick.  If they lose, this percentage drops to 55%.  CRITICAL COIN TOSS.

Via Mass Live:

The Utah win put the Celtics and Jazz into a tie for the fourth-worst record at 25-57. The teams will split the 207 ping-pong balls designated for the fourth and fifth slots, with a coin flip to decide who gets the extra ball.

Sean Grande:

Pending coin flip, and using whole #'s, C's draft chances look like this...

1. 10%
2. 11%
3. 12%
4. 5%
5. 31%
6. 26%
7. 5%
8. .2%

Yes but the coin flip also decides which team picks ahead of the other should neither move up.  This is the critical part.  If we win, it keeps the 4th pick in play as a possibility (Exum) and dramatically improves our chances for a top 5 pick.

If we pick fourth, it's very possible we get a player other than Exum, who is rumored to be in the top 2 on Orlando's board.  It could very well be Embiid if there are still health concerns there.

Not sure that's true, Roy.  If you look at the URL for the link, it's dated 4-19.  I think they probably reposted/updated the article on May 21st when the lottery occurred.  I know in years before 2013, it occurred within the first week of the regular season ending.

You're right; the date on that press release was updated for some reason.

The Cavaliers press release was on April 19.

I think the last day of the regular season was April 17, which was a Wednesday.  If they follow the same schedule, the "coin flips" would be this Friday.

Soooooo....in a manner of speaking each team sorta gets the odds of the 4th and a half pick?

correct, with the winner of the flip getting that extra ball and more importantly a worst-case scenario of 7th vs the 8th pick.
