after Suns game......

Why wasn't Chris Babb given a shot last night considering he's on a 10 day contract and nobody else was doing jack??? a couple of three's might have turned this game around!!!

And my biggest question.....how the heck do you sit Humphries for practically the whole 4th quarter when the guy had 11 points and 13 rebounds.  what a stupid, stupid thing to do, that is unless you are now just blatantly showing us you're going to tank!!! it was like Stevens was handed a memo at the start of the fourth quarter that read..."Don't you dare win this game"!!!  Humphries slammed his towel down on the floor at the final buzzer and stormed off the court.  this is just the attitude you want a guy to have that's been the Celtics morale builder in the locker room.
it was pitiful listening to Stevens just spew out excuses when deep inside you could see he was disgusted as to the way he obviously told how to play the game!!!

HOW DO YOU HOLD THE GUY THAT'S PLAYING THE BEST BALL FOR YOU ON A PARTICULAR NIGHT, OUT FOR ALMOST THE ENTIRE 4TH QUARTER?????????????????
HE PLAYED 1:08.

Welcome to tanking.

Where a few wins could mean slipping out of the top 5 and, or making the playoffs, this is what happens.

Is it fun? No. But this is part of rebuilding, stripping the team down, and coaching/managing so the player play hard, but not put in a position to win easily.

It could be worse, we could be the Bucks, Sixers or Magic were they are about 4 or 5 years away from being decent, were if the ping pong ball lands right, we're right in the mix of it with in 2. And thats either with a elite draft pick or draft trade.

If Stevens doesn't know on his own that winning games right now is not in the team's best interest then I really do hope that the "memo" you referred to actually did happen.  But I think he knows. To have beaten the Knicks or Suns the last 2 games after running off a couple of wins would have been disasterous.  I do believe the C's are bad enough to lose without invoking a lot of strategic tanking moves, but I'd be glad to know that such moves will happen over the last 16 games if the need arises.  We will need help from Lakers, Kings, Jazz and maybe Orlando to secure a good shot at a top 5 pick and every single game counts from here on out.

I am thrilled that Atlanta appears to be free-falling, giving the Pistons, Cavs and Knicks some playoff hope.  Also, the Bulls, Wiz, Nets, Bobats and Raptors are fighting to avoid Indy and Miami in the first round.  C's have 11 of their final 16 games against East opponents who may actually have something to play for when they face the C's.

There was some suspect stuff going on that last quarter......for sure... Especially that last 45 seconds.......LOL.....it was like ....they got the lead,  now let them win.....the whole last two minutes was kinda funny when you replay it .

But ,,hey it's all good ......a win does zip for them ......not counting moral victories now, we are looking at draft position .....screw wins..... A loss keeps them in the hunt for a decent draft pick.

Loss at NO. Would be sweet.

Just too many teams want a shot at this years crop of draftees ,  tank o Rama

Not tanking with a record like the C's at this point  is just criminal.

Go Pelicans

Yep. What was really masterful was how Stevens followed up his most desperate, tank-worthy 4Q rotations on the year with his greatest expression of frustration with the team--and its lack of 'poise'--on the year.

Well played, Mr. Stevens.

Its just brad putting players in situations that you cant practice and seeing how they handle it. With celtics record this season, the front office is all for this. Its who to keep and not keep at this point.

Racking up losses this month is essential to getting a top pick...april we see lottery team galore and the sixers twice...it will get ugly then

I honestly don't know how there could be Celtics fans left who actually want them to win games to finish this season. I agree, it sucks, but that's the way it is. Sac, LAL, and Utah are all teams we should be holding up our giant foam fingers for to win. Let's get this over with and begin our real rebuild this offseason. Guys like Chris Babb and even Humphries will be quite forgettable in a cpl of years when we are consistently winning games again.

Doc had to go through this in 2007 as well.  I'm sure this inevitability was part of Stevens first job interview.  He's gotta be a company man this year for the greater good.  We gave him a 6 year contract ... this first season doesn't matter.

I'd be happy if the Celtics ended the season with Rondo carrying the team in a way which leaves a lot less doubt about his ability to be a guy that a championship team can be built around.

Please keep losing for the rest of this season, thank you Stevens.

You will make a grave mistake if you're planning to get the 8th seed and 100% guaranteed of getting swept by Indiana in Round 1. And that shall be your demise.

I absolutely agree that there are a number things that we can work on - including Rondo becoming the alpha-dog of the next generation of Celtics. I also want to see how AB can play with Rondo, if Green can be a top two scorer for a good team, and I definitely want to see more Olynyk. Why he continues to play 20 minutes or less in any game is beyond me.

Winning games right now is pretty useless, but that there are a number of productive things that can happen to finish out the year.
