Imo i think Sullinger and Olynyk will get all the chances in the world to take the frontcourt starting spots for the start of next year. (and as soon as this year if Hump and Bass are traded)

If we trade for Asik , lucky to draft Embiid or sign a legit Center FA in the offseason, i can see one of Sully or Olynyk coming off the bench. But otherwise i think DA experiment to try out these two (inside/outside) will happen

Many cringe at the thought of this idea. While there are alot of IQ, passing, underrated skills between the two, there are also lack of rebounding and rim protecting ability (as we have seen but hope it improves). This could mean open season for players that love to drive in and finish above the rim

If we draft around 8-12 (where we are now), and also low 20's, can we assume this time around Danny is going to go athletic, especially since we are not athletic up front??  I just can't see him filling in a roster with many more below the rim players with avg quickness

I know the traditional school of though is you draft BPA, but at some point you need to bypass the idea and draft based on other things.  (imagine having 3 doug mcdermotts on the court and get killed on defense)

People know i'm not a big fan of Green nor Bradley. I don't mind if they come off the bench moving on fwd, but that is likely not going to happen. So trade them etc. it doesn't matter with me

So instead , i was thinking what if we replace them with Jerami Grant and Casey Prather (eventually becoming starters).  Seen both guys play on tv this year and i'm impressed by their anti Green/AB ways.  Both are physical, willing passers and just as good if not defenders. Both sb available at the slots we are projected to pick

1)6'8 SF Jerami Grant is an up and coming SF. He is one of the most athletic sf's in the draft, 7'2 wingspan and incredible leaping ability. But unlike Jeff Green is not shy to play the physical game. An excellent defender, that is a solid rebounder and can save you with his shot blocking/rim protection capabilities. Has a nice 15-18 ft jump shot, straight drive acrobatic finishes and still developing his offensive game. Good passer and could get you about 10 points by dunks and putbacks alone

2) 6'6 SG Casey Prathers downside is he took 4 years to get to where he is today. And he still hasn't reached his ceiling, in a good way. A very good year so far, increasing his stats drastically to 17pts (instead of less than 10), 70 FT %(instead of less than 60) and a ridiculous 63 FG avg. Has a nice 6'9 wingspan and a strong body. Good all around offensive skills with ability to finish acrobatically around the rim and is also an excellent defender.  Kind of like a Terrence Williams but more physical and has a consistent 15-18 jump shot.

Yup. Even though he is projected to go In the 2nd round, he has too many things going for him to not go in the 1st round. If not this is def a deep draft

Prather reminds me a little of dwade.

I like Prather, Seems like a good prospect who is a bit underrated. Really seems like this freshman hype just dominates everything.

Just a mock board I know, but I was noticing that nbadraft.net has pushed a few of freshman into 2015. Would be great for basketball, if some of these guys stayed in for another year.

Florida could be scary if Walker can play and Kasey Hill gets healthy.

Grant is just a fantastic prospect. Looks better every game.

well, here is draftexpress' take on grant. basically a great athlete with limited basketball skills. specifically:

Skill-wise, Grant proved to be a fairly limited player last season, showing little in the way of ball-handling ability or scoring touch. Knocking down 6 of his 21 jump shots (28.6%) last season, the former consensus top-50 recruit did the vast majority of his damage right at the rim, seldom being counted on to make a play on the offensive end

i guess this is why the videos show him dunking the ball.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

His game has improved this season. Can dribble and finish for layups and dunks. Also dribble  and pullup for a mid range jump shot Something he didnt really try last season. Also jump shot is out to 18 ft.

Doesnt have a post game really, no spins, crafty moves. Not a go to scorer but picks his spot well. Getting to the line more these days showing increase in aggression

He has potential to be like a serge ibaka, but more like a sf/pf imo

I really like the look of Jerami Grant as a defensive/rebounding SF.  He has the athleticism and length to match up against top scorers and make life hard for them.  IMO if he develops he could be an anti-LeBron/anti-Durant defensive weapon.

And should we miss out on a top 5 pick, I wouldn't mind landing Grant to add to the arsenal.

if we somehow strike lottery gold and get embiid/grant.  I'd love to see that team on the court just shut people down defensively.

A defensive lineup of
1. rondo
2. AB
3. Grant
4. Sully
5. Embiid

would be very very tough.
even if we only get Asik instead of Embiid, that's going to be tough to score against.

Ever heard of...
2014 Michael Carter Williams 17 ppg 5.4 rpg 6.6 apg
2013 Dion Waiters 14.5 ppg 2.6 rpg 2.8 apg
2011 Wesley Johnson, 2010 Jonny Flynn

And of course besides the most recent pros there were guys like -- Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, Dave Bing.

If you are insinuating that Syracuse hasn't turned out solid to great pros, you're pretty badly mistaken.  They've got a pretty solid basketball history behind their program.

As far as Grant's upside goes,  I'm looking at a really good rebounder/defender.  I don't think he'll ever have a great offensive game but he's young and can leverage his athleticism into easy buckets in the lane.

If he ever develops his jumpshot to be reliable, he could be a 12-16 ppg scorer who makes his true impact on his own end of the floor.

"Where Grant does his best work and possesses the most potential at this point is on the defensive end. Bringing length and agility to the back line of Syracuse's zone, Grant proved in Colorado Springs that he can guard from the two through the four position effectively in man-to-man situations. As he continues to add weight to his frame, he could emerge as one of the more promising forward prospects in the college game from a defensive perspective, even if that is unfortunately masked at times by the system he plays in."
