I'd target Ariza (expiring deal) and Otto Porter (bust so far, but has upside) and maybe a future 1st rounder if we include Bass too?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mtge5nv

Green & Bass

for

Ariza, Porter, Vesely (also expiring), and a pick (they don't have their 2014 and thus can't trade next years so maybe a 2016 pick)?

saves us $11.7M off the books this summer

I actually like Ariza. Hes having a good year and is a nice expiring. Havent seen much of Porter but getting the cap space and the extra number one is hard to pass up. Green makes that Wizards lineup pretty legit for the next couple years and Bass is a nice added veteran as well.

don't think you can get a pick and Porter, but I'd do the trade anyway.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I guess the "no other teams' paraphernalia in the locker room" rule left with Garnett.

Jeff Green has proven himself well enough that Danny Ainge will always be able to get an expiring contract + probably a first round pick or some young player in return for J.Green.

So there is no need to rush into a trade to get cap flexibility unless you have a clear target who you can sign in free agency OR if that young player / draft pick is so good that you can't pass up on him/it.

Now, Bass or previously with C.Lee ... I don't think they have that type of trade value so if you get an offer like that, you jump at it. But I absolutely believe that J.Green will always be able to get a deal comparable to this one so need to do this without a clear end game (signing Carmelo in FA?) in mind.

I  disagree on Bass.  For a contender, I definitely think he would be worth a very late first this year.  He'd be a real asset to Miami, OKC, Indy, Portland, SA, Houston - top teams that would have a late pick this year.

If Porter had shown mor this year, i think Green and Bass for Porter and thir pick (which would end up out of the lottery, would be starting the point.  The expirings are ok but I'd want more back from Washington in this deal since we're seriously improving their team with this deal

remember when Tony Delk had a few 50 point games..

Except that Delk was not that good and everyone knew that game was a fluke.  Jeff Green is good almost anytime he WANTS to be.

I know Jeff has been a disappointment, but I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

Actually, Washington can't trade any first round picks.

The 2014 pick you cited has protections all the way through 2019 and becomes unprotected in 2020. So until that pick is actually conveyed, all their picks up until 2022 are tied up and 2022 exceeds the 7 year rule

Yeah, because every team should trade their team's leading scorer  ::)...16 and 5, strong defense and a good passer, and he gets this much hate on these boards? We all knew this was a rebuilding year. No, he's not a superstar (if you're mad about that, that's on you) but he's a really good player who would be a great 2nd/3rd option.

I'd gladly trade Green for an expiring and Porter.
