“I think it’s a totally different team,” Wallace said as the C’s prepared for tonight’s road game against the Orlando Magic. “The atmosphere would be different if he’d been playing all along. Probably our style right now would be different. I think a lot of guys would have benefited from playing with Rondo from the opening of training camp. Obviously, he would have changed a lot of things. Who knows how it would be with our record and all that? But it would be different.”

Part of it is technical basketball stuff. When Jordan Crawford was running the offense, the ball was distributed after he got through dribbling through his inspection process. Someone would usually get it later in the shot clock, leaving little time for proper distribution.

With Rondo’s quicker approach to offense and his ability to find open mates before they’re open, those who work hardest to free themselves are the ones who get rewarded with touches.

“The ball spreads around more,” Wallace said. “There’s more opportunity in an up-tempo game. The shots are there more. It’s a lot different than a halfcourt set where there’s only 24 seconds and if you come down and start looking, it’s very rare that you get to the second and third option. In transition, it’s boom-boom. The ball moves a lot quicker. Guys can get themselves open. In a halfcourt set, it goes to the guy who the play’s called for.”

It’s fair to assume the changes will benefit Wallace, who lit up for 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting with four rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks against the Lakers.

It’s a more up and down tempo, getting up and down the court, and that’s good for me,” he said. “Rondo likes to push the ball and attack the defense, and that’s my style of play.

“It’s all new,” Wallace said. “Rajon gets up and down the court, plus coach gives him the opportunity to read the floor and call his own plays, you know, kind of put guys in position. It’s out of respect to him; coach lets him put guys where he thinks they need to be.

“There’s more flow now to where coach doesn’t have to control the floor as much with Rondo out there. It opens up a lot more things for us.”

So when Wallace had his rant last week do you think he was talking about Crawford?

I'll be curious to see what Rondo does for our pace.  I'm not sure that recent Celtics teams have pushed the pace or moved the ball at even an above-average level.  Whether that's due to Rondo's style or the personnel he was surrounded with is a matter of debate, but the Celtics haven't been a fast-paced team.

In fact, the Celtics have played at a faster pace this year than they did last year so far.

Lets just hope Wallace starts to play like he did against the Lakers. With trades that have happened he will get more time on the court with Green getting more minutes at the 2.

I am almost certain that the pace Celtics played in the last few years was dictated by our aging vets. We were managing KG's minutes, that alone points to a slow down of the game to save the legs of our aged veterans.

Well we'll see. We've wondered how he would run with younger legs running with him. Once he's off his minute restrictions and get more consistency we can see how the offense really flows.

This guy is a crybaby.  Nothing else
