For starters, the salaries just about match up, so this trade is feasible from a money standpoint.

Also, this trade would be made under the assumption that Danny is more interested in not making the playoffs.

Why for Boston?

Again, if the Celtics are not looking to get a playoff spot, this trade makes some sense.  They offload two vets on multiple-year deals, while getting two young prospects in return, along with a guy who is good for the locker room.

Why for OKC?

I actually like the Thunder's backup backcourt of Jackson and Lamb, but there was a report that they were looking to move Lamb, so he's apparently on the market.

This trade allows them to get rid of Perkins while acquiring two great role players.  Their team would look like:

Westbrook/Jackson
Sefolosha/Lee
Durant/Gomes
Ibaka/Bass
Adams/Collison

That's pretty good.

If the Celtics want a lottery pick, would you do this trade?

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
It is a good trade, because the Thunder can legit actually contend with the defense Bass brings and floor spacing. Plus Lee is shooting lights out this season. I just don't know if its worth bringing back Perkins when we really don't need him. Or Jones III. The only key part is getting Lamb who can really shoot the 3, and be a solid SG to come in the future.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

I'm not a fan of bringing Perk back myself, but he has to be in the deal to make salaries match, and, like I said, if Boston is looking to miss the postseason, adding a player like Perk who has become a mediocre player since his injury would help the Celtics lose games.

Plus, Rondo and Perk are reunited!
