4.8 ppg on 52.1% FG shooting, 3.9 rebs, 2.7 assts, 0.0 blks, 1.7 stls, 2.4 TOs

Player B:

2012-13
79 games played, 0 starts, 18.1 mpg,
9.1 ppg on 57.5% FG shooting, 4.8 rebs, 0.3 assts, 2.0 blks, 0.4 stls, 1.1 TOs

2013-14
5 games played, 5 starts, 16 mpg,
7.0 ppg on 44.7% FG shooting, 3.4 rebs, 0.4 assts, 1.4 blks, 0.2 stls, 1.6 TOs

Both players are signed through 2015-16, but Player B is owed $3 million more total over those two years.

I'm sure you can guess who Player A is. I'll post answers shortly.

Player A is Gerald Wallace.

Player B is JaVale McGee.

Normally I see the point you're trying to make, Lucky, but I don't see it here.

Player A is Gerald Wallace, Player B is Javale McGee. Are you comparing them in terms of their lack of production?  Their perception around the league?

I wouldn't want either of them on their current contracts.  At least with Wallace, it's his age, injuries, and style of play that caught up with him.  McGee is just a knucklehead, the Gerald Green of big men.

You're getting my point.

Wallace's is universally held up as "the worst contract in the league."

And yet, McGee's is just as long, slightly more expensive, and he actually has produced less over the time span I've indicated. He's also now out indefinitely with a stress fracture, so he won't be outproducing Wallace anytime soon.

Anyways, I thought it interesting. Not sure what else I was looking to prove here.

McGee was pretty obviously signed to that contract on the basis of potential future production.

Also, last year his per-minute production was quite excellent.  The problem is that he hasn't been able to stay on the floor for whatever reason.

Even so, Javale McGee has been far more productive than Gerald Wallace over the last two season, so I don't think this is a great point that you're making here.

Not to mention, the basic counting stats you've listed here fail to account for whatever effect Javale has with his very notable size and length, offensively and defensively.  I think it's safe to say that teams can't ignore Javale on either end the way they do Wallace.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

It's the colored part that's important though. Whether it's his lack of focus, health issues (injury/asthma), whatever, McGee simply hasn't played many minutes over the last two seasons.

Last season, McGee did outPER his counterpart, while Wallace did not. However, Wallace's teams outscored opponents by 70 points more than McGee's. They scored more and defended better when Wallace was on the court; McGee's teams defended better and scored more when he WASN'T playing.
