If this team is .500 at the trading deadline, what direction does Danny take?

That will depend a great deal on who is out there.  I firmly believe Danny will lean heavily towards selling off long term salary, but if there was a big guy available at the right price I have no doubt that Ainge would go all in.  You know someone that is still relatively young, not an expiring contract, and that isn't over priced.  I have no idea if that player will be available, but I'm thinking guys like Kevin Love, Lamarcus Aldridge, etc.  I can't see him going for someone like Pau Gasol, Carlos Boozer, Zach Randolph, etc.

As much as Wallace's contract is the largest weight, 1. it's going to be near impossible to unload considering what we'd have to include (youth and picks) and 2. He's actually valuable as the only real veteran (who plays) right now and seems to be the only KG like influence for a team without an identity. Eh.... don't really agree on 2.  All this team needed was to find its rotations, mainly playing Avery off the ball, to greatly improve.  The players were playing hard before that.

I'm not particularly impressed with his "veteran leadership" either. Between Rondo, Green, and Bass I think we'll be just fine in this department. All of them have been around for a while.

Definitely a balancing act. I dont think Danny lets us sniff 500. I think he keeps the team scrappy and competitive but below 500. Like a 400 winning pace maybe. A pick at 15 and 20 dont help much in this deep of a rebuild. A pick at 5-7 and 20 make a lot more difference. The only way is if he steals a top 15 player in a trade. Dont see it happening though.

It depends a lot on what other teams are doing and who is available. I think that he does nothing and lets the season play out making only minor moves at this point. We picked up Jordan Crawford at last years deadline and now he is contributing as our starting PG (in the absense of Rondo).

I still don't think we will be .500 in February but a lot depends on what our opponents do. How much of the league is out of contention and looking to rebuild?

I don't think our record matters on what Danny's plan is for the future.

Face it, our GM is one smart hombre and he's thinking 2-3 years ahead of the next man.  He see's the bigger picture and isn't set on the teams record at this point.  He knows he needs a better roster to compete in a 7 game series vs. the best in the league.

This is a new era, but the same plan. Ainge has been here before.  Except this time he has a better roster and better assets at the start.  It will be interesting to see what he does first.
