A lot of thoughtful takes in this post regarding the philosophy of rooting for a team in a transition phase.

Personally, I'm still rooting for wins.  I don't think 60, or 50 is realistic.  Heck, I even think 40 is a stretch, but I think the latter number is a possibility, so I'm going to root for them to get there.  I plan to watch every Celtics game and root for the victory whether they are playing the Heat in Miami on a back-to-back or the Bobcats in Boston on two nights rest. 

I've been a sports fan long enough to recognize that there is a strong chance of disappointment, and I've also been a fan long enough to have learned how to emotionally handle that possible disappointment.

I'm ready for this season.  And, I'm ready to see the Celtics surprise some people and win more games than many find them capable of. 

If that doesn't happen, I'll make it through, slightly wounded, but, in the big picture, relatively unscathed.
