  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
1. Andrew Wiggins is going to be dominant in college, be drafted 1st overall, average 20-6-3 to win ROY, and later peak at 28-30 ppg in the prime of his career.

2. The Cavs will make the playoffs this year and they will scare the Bulls/Heat, making a 7 game series. Kyrie Irving will be averaging 25-4-7.

3. The Celtics will get a lottery pick in the top 8.

4. The Rockets will win 55+ games.

5. The Nets will oust the Heat, but then lose to the Bulls.

6. Duncan retires after the 2014 season.

7. KG retires after the 2024 season.

8. John Wall has a breakout season and the Wizards make the playoffs.

9. Trey Burke wins ROY.

10. DeMarcus Cousins has a breakout season with 22/12, but the Kings will still suck. He leaves as soon as he can and considers joining the Celtics.

--Dennis Schroeder wins the starting point guard spot in Atlanta and gets Rookie of the Year (Kelly Olynyk is the runner-up).

--The Portland Trailblazers reach the Western Conference Finals in 2014.

--The Boston Celtics make the playoffs in 2014, sneaking into the seventh spot, and upsetting the number two seeded           Brooklyn Nets in the first round.  Rondo averages a 25 PPG, 13 APG, 11 RPG triple double for the series .  .  . followed by an off-season where a majority of CelticsBlog posters want to trade him straight up for Paul George.

--The Boston Celtics end up getting the best player from the loaded 2014 draft with the 16th pick.

--Andrew Wiggins decides at the last minute to return to Kansas for his sophomore season.  He stays at school through his Junior year.  The Celtics select him 8th in the 2016 draft using Brooklyn's pick.  Of course, he becomes a top tier, franchise style superstar.

--The Celtics hang banner number 18 after the 2018 season.  The thirty-two year old Rajon Rondo gets Finals MVP.  Olynyk wins the award in 2019.  Wiggins gets it in 2020 after the three-peat.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

7. KG retires after the 2024 season.

Typo? Or serious?

As for my predictions:
- Our young guns will be fun to watch.
- There is a solid chance these young ones will make some eat their hats. As someone noted it's absurd to predict how well a team does this season and this is ESPECIALLY true for this team with so many question marks.
- Brad Stevens won't be Pitino. He could still be a bust though.

- The 13/14 Nets are not the 2012/13 Lakers. There is no Kobe. There is no Dwight. There is only D-Will surrounded by a bunch of high character guys.
- Clippers will still be early exits. Doc does not make a huge difference. (Here's my inner homer/hater talking).
- The addition of Bargnani makes no difference for the Knicks.

Wiggins refuses to play for anyone but the Raptors. Starts his own Canadian superfriends in TorontoA massive HGH scandal breaks out in college and high school basketball. Nobody ever looks at 7 footers the same way again.Miami copy Boston (again) by flipping broken down Bosh and Wade to some desperate big market franchise for all of their 1st rounders till kingdom come, as Lebron goes back to Cleveland and they finally get a championship together. Avery Bradley wins at least 1 DPOY this decade.

- Irving, Wall and Rondo all have breakout years.

- KO finishes in the top 3 for ROY

- The Clips are worse with Doc coaching them.  People start to realize Doc was holding the Celtics back.

- C's play hard every game this year.  No more coasting or mailing it in during the season.

- Heat don't get to the finals.  Either the Nets or the Bulls knock them off.  Heat end up having to play Cavs, Nets and Bulls in the playoffs and the elevated play of those teams allows the 3rd one to play them to knock them off.

- Houston has a mediocre year because DH has a mediocre year.  His status as a franchise player is debunked.

- Lakers suck and get a better pick in the lottery than the C's even if they have a better record.  Lakers in fact get a top 3 pick (their next superstar) and C's pick somewhere between 8-10 to get a good solid starter-quality player.

- Lakers get their 17th title before C's get their 18th.  (hurts to even think that but I really think it'll happen)

- Wiggins and Parker become the stars of the next draft class with 6 other becoming perennial all-stars.  2 of the top 10 picks become busts, 1 due to chronic injuries.

- GSW is the surprise team in the league for 2014 getting to the WCF.

- Spurs win the title next year and Timmy retires so he can go out on top.

- Rondo returns in December and will have a slow start
- Jeff Green becomes the man averaging something like 22/5/3
- Kelly O. will be in contention for ROY finishing in the top 3.
- Sullinger comes back strong with a double double - 12 and 10

Heat will have best record again but eliminated by the Nets
Nets will be eliminated by the Pacers

Finals will be Pacers vs Spurs with the Spurs taking it all

Wizards and Cavs will battle for playoff spots. Probably 7th and 8th seed for both of them.

Clippers lose in the 2nd round to the Thunder

1) Knicks miss the playoffs.

2) Nets are not going to be as good as people think. They max out as the 3rd or 4th seed, and go down in the second round. (I am seriously amazed by the people who think that they will beat the Heat ... unless KG has an amazing throwback season, it's just not happening, folks. D-Will hasn't shown he can stay consistently good all season, nevermind buying into Kidd as his couch. Brook Lopez is extraordinarily overrated. Pierce and KG are just aging. Joe Johnson is both overrated AND aging. AK47 is old. Terry is old. They only way they can seriously compete is if 5 or 6 players magically reverse the downward trend of time and have throwback seasons. Not impossible, but not bloody likely.)

3) The Bulls are not going to be as good as people think. Not that they are going to be bad, but they won't be the powerhouse they seemed to be before.

4) The Oklahoma City Thunder will not make the NBA Finals. Might not even make the WCF.

5) Wiggins will be a "bust." At least, he isn't going to be the next superstar. He will be a quality starter, but not a franchise changing talent.

celtic related predictions:
- Brad Stevens' coaching makes Doc look as bad as the Doc-detractors have been saying all along.

- Rondo is playing in November and has a breakout year without KG and PP around.  Starts to get credit from those who said he needed the Big 3 to look good.

- AB looks great on D.  Looks lost on O.

- KO - good enough to get 3rd for ROY

- Sully looks like a real PF. 10/7 this year.
- KO and Sully on the floor at the same time look great on offense, not so good on D.  Creates some controversy on the blog with some people arguing over who to trade between KO and Sully to bring in a SG that can shoot or a legit center.

- Humphries gets traded by the deadline to a contender that sends us a 1st rounder in 2015 or 2016.

- Lee and Bass play well enough to generate lots of trade talk before the deadline.  Danny is only able to move one for an expiring deal and a couple of second rounders--one for 2014.

- Vitor = bust.  so bad people are asking why we signed him and shipped out Iverson (and in some people's minds -- Melo)

- Brooks and Crawford both look hopeless.  Both gun away on offense, show little defense and won't be here after this year.

- GW has a mini-resurgence.  Looks like he'd be a terrific contributor on a contender but due to his contract, no one will take him because even though he's playing better, it's not like his old level of play.

- Green doesn't step up to be the man.  He plays well but shows he's really a supporting player on a good team.  Leads the team in scoring but most of the points are scored early in games and he can't deliver in the crunch.

- C's overall record: 28-54.  Due to several other teams playing poorly and the luck of the draw in the lottery, C's end up with a pick from 8-10

here are some of my thoughts/prediction for next season
- in houston, D12 disappoints yet again...same as Jeremy Lin
- Clips will reach second round (barely) and Doc will be exposed as an overrated coach (surprise surprise)
- i'm also with the Schroeder ROY bandwagon
- i also think that the Nets cannot beat the Heat (though i really hope they do)
- knicks won't really matter in the East
- Rondo comes back stronger than ever

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
There will be serious dissension in the Nets locker room.  Likely scenarios include Pierce v Deron, KG v Lopez, and Everybody Hates Jason.  Much ESPN pundit handwringing and predictions of doom will ensue.

ROY will be Oladipo.  Olynyk will be given enough minutes to put up stats that get him on the All-Rookie Team.

Golden State will become a top 3 team out West, but will fall in the same round as last year.

Atlanta will continue to be aggressively mediocre.

Paul George will hit his ceiling and it'll be lower than most people expect.

Kobe is back by Thanksgiving, drops 30+ regularly by Christmas, grows third arm.

Celtics are bad, but that unhappy middling kind of bad where there's not much hope of getting better and a lot of people quietly hope they drop further in the standings.
