Like a bounce pass but it bounces and goes in the hoop

I have a vague memory of reading about Tom Gola doing it back in the 50s, but I can't find anything on it now.

I want to see this one:

Quote
NEW YORK gave Coach Harry Gallatin his first win at Madison Square Garden by whipping the Warriors, lost a game, then beat the hot Pistons twice. The first win over the Pistons came in overtime, brought about on a miracle basket by Tom Gola, who deflected a Detroit pass 52 feet into the basket on one bounce.

Al-Farouq Aminu did it, but his shot didn’t count:

Now this high school girl did it, and it did count:

I think the rule here is something like once the play has stopped (either the shot/game clock expiring or the refs blowing their whistle), the ball can’t touch anything but the backboard/rim, otherwise it’s a dead ball.  So that’s why Aminu’s shot didn’t count (whistle had blown) but the girls shot did (because no whistle had blown and time was still on the clock), and also the Tom Gola shot probably counted because it was off a deflected pass so play hadn't stopped.  That would be my guess anyways.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Great question/ thread. I think most of us have wondered this at some point. Tp.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Many things are possible with a basketball. I used to shoot a super high arcing shot to get it over the really tall guys. Once when I was shooting around with was probably a slightly overinflated ball, I shot the ball and it bounced off the rim and it went really high and then hit the ground and bounced up and curled over the rim and into the basket. I stood there amazed and didn't know if that was one shot attempt or two. I could have shot a 100 years and never made that two for one shot again. So any shot might happen if you wait long enough.

PS. There was a team of women players in the 60s called the Redheads which were sort of Globetrotters team but with women who of course dyed their head red. As part of their routine, they had one of the women face away from the basketball and back towards the basket and bounce the ball and it went in a fair amount of those times.
