Heard Paul mention Dirk and Kobe ???

Here's Dirk who's in a situation Paul said he didn't wanna be in...understandably...a rebuild.

Quote
"It's going to be tough now," Nowitzki said after the Mavs' home overtime loss to the Western Conference cellar-dwelling New Orleans Hornets. "I always liked to think you don't want to build your franchise on hope.

"We hoped for Deron last year. We hoped for Dwight. Why would he leave the Lakers? To me, it makes no sense. He's in a great situation. Why would CP3 leave? [The Los Angeles Clippers are] the best team in the league probably right now. They're probably the deepest team. So are you going to hope that we get something?

Here's Paul on himself and the rebuild

Quote
“I mean, I really don’t want to be part of a rebuilding situation again. I just think at this point in time that’s something that would wear on me too much mentally that I don’t know what decision I may make if I have to. I may retire if I have to. You know, that’s something that’s a year-end process, especially given the situation that we have right now.”
According to Pierce, his call will be dictated by the direction the Celtics take moving forward. And while he has stated strongly that he would like to end his career with the club, he opened the door wide to the possibility he could finish elsewhere.
“It’s all on what they plan on doing,” said Pierce. “If they try to go into a rebuild mode, then, you know, I don’t know if I want to be a part of that. But that’s up to them and what they need to do. I don’t want to go out on a rebuild mode.
“I want an opportunity to at least try to win another championship, simple and plain. And if that’s not going to be here — if that’s going to be somewhere else — so be it. That’s what it has to be. I mean, even the greatest players played for other franchises.

If Danny didn't shop him he woulda went through a rebuild? Not according to his own words. You can flame all you like. What he wanted wasn't possible in Boston. That part I bolded is the cold hard truth from the truth himself. ESPN interview and K.G. saying he felt Paul had the right to retire a Celtic and Jackie not asking about the Clipper drama... ???

Paul, you don't wanna be Dirk and you said so in February last year and near the end of last season...you helped put that "writing on the wall". What % of Celts money were tied up in 2 players? It's not like the Celtics didn't wanna win but they were stuck between a rock and another rock. Danny is responsible for that. They walk away from the Celts and into contenders while we ...not sure.

That's the business but K.G. saying he felt it was "pushed on us" is kinda ironic given Clippergate.

Doc by not helping Danny get that Mayo deal past the locker room which is...gone now. Doc by bringing small ball personnel to Boston with Danny and it's mostly fodder now. Doc is a book of problems too much to list.

Paul, nothing really.  ;D

K.G. by approving a straight swap for D.Jordan but then saying stuff was pushed on him.  ::) O.K., sure, yeah, I was sleeping in May and June so that sounds right >:(

I hope to see Paul sign a one day and retire a Celt.

Kg hadn't waived his NTC for Jordan yet. ESPN said he will eventually, but that's ESPN. You can take what they say with a grain of salt. KG did no such thing yet, you can't conclude he waived it already.

Paul is saying maybe they could have chased another ring with Boston still. And it was possible. Maybe instead of adding pieces like Bass and Crawford again, Danny could have added better players. AK signed with the Nets for 3M, Blatche signed for 1.4M, Dunleavy signed with the Bulls for 3M. Danny could have made similar moves. But what he kept on doing was offering 5-7M to the likes of Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass. There are much better players than them that Danny can sign at those prices which would have helped KG and Pierce chase another ring in Boston, but HE NEVER DID IT.

So let's thank Paul and KG for what they did in Boston, wish them luck, and let's move on.

Thanks for translating Paul's words. I read his words and watched his interview. I actually don't need a translation as you seemed to have morphed it into an excuse. Which brings me to Lee...thanks for that.

You remember who said we had to beat one team and that team was MIAMI? (Doc was publicly naming and focusing and creating a roster aimed at beating a particular style of play that seemed like it would never work with old legs ) This is after Doc personally recruited Terry I think and  LEE for sure. That was Doc in Europe. He said it more than once. Danny and Doc tried and failed to beat Miami at Miami's game. Blaming Danny for bringing in players Doc and Danny  wanted and ignoring Doc's influence and the Vet's (See Mayo,K Mart,Birdman) on signings is looking at only a part of the picture. Everyone seemed like we had reloaded last August?? Now Danny did nothing to help Paul?

And most importantly   I will not move on. This is a blog. It's on the internet. Opposing views are supposed to be welcome so long as folks do not disrespect one another.

I am not happy. My butt is hurt. It will get better. I will wear the green. I will scream at my T.V, and my monitor and my phone because I am a fan like that. Always will be. My screaming would annoy you at the Garden but 18,000 other screaming green clad loons would drown me out.

I'm not moving on...you go ahead...I'll catch up to wherever your going by opening day ;D

I don't care about Doc. I was defending KG and taking a shot at Danny for not signing better pieces. Also, I wasn't one of those who thought we reloaded with Lee and Terry. I didn't like those signings, I preferred bigs (Evans and Birdman especially) who would have helped KG on the front line. So yes, for me Danny didn't do anything right to help Paul and KG, unlike what Billy King just did (signed Kirilenko, Blatche and Evans). Danny could have done the same thing, but always liked the Basses, Lees, and Terrys of the world (I have no clue why). Doc could have had a say in that, but Danny is the GM and he should have an idea which players to get and he should have the final say, not Doc.

There's not really a phoney vibe from KG and PP. Saying they were pushed out is probably true. I'm sure they have conflicting emotions but trying to say they are happy to be in Brooklyn and also say they are upset they were "pushed out" looks bad to fans & I hope they cut that out because I would hate to see their reputations in Boston tarnished even a little bit after everything they did.

Danny went out and got two bigs in Randolph and White.  One of which, Randolph, proved to be serviceable and we only knew that becasue he got playing time.  When you go out and gedt players and your idiot coach doesnt play them who's to blame.  Is Danny supposed to keep taking on old vets becasue his hard headed choach is too stubborn to play anyone but vets?

I think everything worked out well for all sides of the big 3 era..Ray got a ring, Doc can hide his coaching ineptness behind a group of talented vets again, KG and PP are on a legit title contending team now, and we have a team with a ocach that won't be handcuffed by personal biases and politics, and have an open mind to develop young talent and build a strong core for now and the future.

Hopefully i can see the entire interview on the tube.

Opposing views are welcome.  Everyone should be conscious of their tone, however, and of making things too personal.  That's how flame wars happen.

How do you know Danny didn't try to make other moves? People seem to forget the human element to all of this, you can chase any player you want but that player still has to WANT to come play here.

The players you mentioned above, all signed with teams in bigger markets.  There's no evidence that they would've taken the same discounts to play in Boston.

I was in a good situation in Memphis at the time,” said Mayo. “Obviously, Boston is a big-time organization as well. Great players. It would’ve been an honor to play with KG [Kevin Garnett], [Paul] Pierce and [Rajon] Rondo. It would’ve been great to play with those guys and with [Celtics coach] Doc [Rivers].”

“I was pretty much set to come here and something fell through at the very last second. A couple of the guys wanted to keep Ray, and management wanted to make the trade.

Thanks for letting me literally highlight the problem when a G.M. becomes too close to the coach who is so close to his players that sound business decisions are clouded by emotions. Ray left for nothing and to the Heat. Doc or K.G. or Paul voiced opposition to that trade and a good move was NOT made.

very tough to watch - reminded me of what Larry said in his interview with Simmons about how he always appreciated Red's loyalty - how Red knew McHale had sacrificed his career in the '87 finals playing on a broken foot and would never trade him. i've always considered loyalty to be part of what made the Celtics a special franchise.

And yes, I understand that in pure basketball terms, Ainge made a smart move - maybe. but just like the Perk deal (which was a dumb move), the game ain't played on paper and I don't want the Celts becoming just another franchise - but Danny has made them just that.

Pierce talked about how it hurt to see teams like the Mavs say they would never trade Dirk, Spurs would never trade Duncan, Lakers and Kobe. But he had to live with constant trade rumors despite being the equal of all those guys.

KG said he felt like the whole deal had kinda been forced upon them and that they wouldn't have the ending to their careers in Celtic Green that they had wanted.

Pierce and KG are Celtics. KG always was - he just didn't find out until he got here.

Still makes me think about that 4th quarter in 2010.

The whole thing breaks my heart.
