Rondo "I will never play for the HEAT"

If Rondo has his way, though, he'll never have to move to South Beach to play for the Heat. During his basketball camp last week, he took questions from campers and was asked about the possibility of ever playing for the newly-minted back-to-back NBA champions.

"I will never play for the Miami Heat," Rondo said simply.

With that answer, he earned himself a nice ovation from the crowd -- probably some of whom were Celtics fans still stinging from Ray Allen's departure for Boston in favor of Miami.

The more I think about Rondo as part of the Celts, the less I want to trade him. This guy is hard nosed and he gets it. He's not trying to make rap albums or be a media darling. The kid cares about basketball and winning in Boston. I hope he sticks around and returns to form with a revamped roster over the coming years.

Because making rap albums or caring about being a media darling prohibits you from winning championships. Just ask Shaq, Magic Johnson and Michael.

Rondo gets a lot of grief for his supposed "personality" issues, but it's the same issues that are what drive fierce competitors.

There is good reason the elite players in this game respect Rondo.  He shares their will to win.  Dudes that are less driven do not attempt to play basketball with only one functioning arm.

Rondo's clashes with other players are not new things to this league, but are definitely overblown in Rondo's case.  Kobe drove out Shaq and Howard.  He won 5 titles though, hard to question that.  Rondo got along with Pierce and KG far better.
