Clifford was great developing bigs for the Celtics.

Last month, it was announced that the Sacramento Kings and their new coach won't be bringing back their current assistants, which means Clifford Ray is out of a job.

So unless since then he has found a new place to coach, I really hope the Celtics can bring him back.

Hey, I think he's special enough to at least give Fab Melo a one minute stretch of solid basketball.

Anyone knows where he's currently at?

I thought he was in Houston. Some of the Dwight Howard articles talking about they were reunited and how having Cliff Ray and Hakeem and Kevin McHale were going to provide Dwight with the best possible environment to grow and develop his low post game.

Ah, that sucks. Oh well... I recall him being Dwight's coach in Orlando at some point right?

Yep, Dwight's rookie year.

If you come across one of those articles you're talking about, please link me to it. I can't find confirmation anywhere at this point.

Maybe I had that wrong. Clifford Ray isn't listed on the Rockets coaching staff according to the Rockets roster page on NBA.com.

Edit: Yeah, I think I had that wrong. There were some quotes from Dwight talking about how Kevin McHale reminded him of Clifford Ray. How he coaches. Not that Ray was on the Rockets coaching staff.

Quote
“I’m looking forward to having him and Kevin McHale push me. When I sat down with Kevin, he reminded me a lot of the drive of Clifford Ray (a former Magic assistant coach) when Clifford Ray was my big man coach. He pushed me to the limit every day and then I worked out. He always said, ‘I’m going to kick your (butt)’ and at the end of the day give you a hug.’ ”

So yeah, I am fairly sure I had that wrong. I don't think Cliff Ray is with the Rockets.

OK, I had read that quote before, so I was leaning towards that being what had you confused too.

In any case, I hope we can entice Ray to coming back to the Celtics.
