celtics send Bass + Lee + Crawford

Rockets send Lin + Greg Smith

This trade clears some of the Cs roster log jam. While Lin is a super over payed backup PG he comes of the books before Lee saving money in the long term. Smith is a decent very young center who would become the likely 3rd member of the Sully, Olynyk rotation.

For the rockets, they gain a starting Pf in Bass who will fit in very nicely with their current team. Lee becomes their first guard off the bench and Crawford an scoring bench spark. They are left without a true PG but still have Asik to flip to fill that hole.

Just say no to Lin, he is vastly over paid and over rated.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I think the Lin overrated / overpaid thing has been overstated around here. He is paid about 8 mill per year and averaged over 13 points and 6 assists last year. I don't particularly want him, but he is pretty decent and his contract isn't that bad.

I have thought about Bass on the Rockets, though, and he would seem to be a good fit. I wonder if there will be a small trade between the teams to bring Bass to Houston.

This trade idea is more to create cap flexibility and consolidate the roster. Lin has a lot of flaws but would work for this team as Rondo's backup. Trading Lee and Bass will open up PF minutes for Olynyk and Sully to both play a lot and gives AB and Brooks all the SG minutes.

I actually really like the idea. It would give us a bettet chance to keep all of our guards on the floor in crunch time and the chance for KO and Sully to get max minutes is the ultimate pay off

Why wouldn't we just target Asik instead?

Because Asik has more value then Lin. Asik would cost the Celtics assets Lin would not

What's wrong with parting with assets for a legitimate 7-footer entering his prime who is a nightly double-double threat and can capably anchor the team's defense?

Because we have 7footers of our own we are developing and KO is looking like he may be that 15-10 guy we need, along with Sully (obviously not 7ft) but a monster on the boards. We need dynamic wings, a scorer. As much as i like Jeff Green, he isn't our future

It is a decent trade for the Cs. But does Lin come off the bench when Rondo returns?
Celtics fan for life.
