The Golden State Warriors made a legitimate impression on Dwight Howard during their meeting and have become a factor in his decision.

The Los Angeles Lakers would have to agree to a sign-and-trade for Howard to be acquired by the Warriors.

The most likely scenario would be for the Warriors to send the expiring contract of Andrew Bogut and either Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes to the Lakers for Howard.

The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks remain more serious contenders to sign away Howard from the Lakers since a sign-and-trade would not be necessary.

A core of Curry,Dwight,Lee, and Barnes or Thompson would be legit contenders IMO.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I hope the Warriors get him. After the Rockets.

Dwight Wish-List:
1) Rockets
2) Warriors
3) Mavs
4) Lakers

Yeah they would be, assuming the Lakers would play ball. I think they'd have to give them more than Bogut and one of their perimeter players.

Your list makes Atlanta so very sad.

Whatever. I wouldn't touch Howard. His immaturity and attitude negates what he actually brings to the court.

Is it weird that I live in Canada and yet since I run the DKC Hawks I want to defend Atlanta?

That would be an interesting deal for GS. Would the Lakers go for it? They don't seem like a rebuild kind of team.

True.

I'm undecided what would depress them more, having the Lakers ahead of them or not being on the list at all.

They would just wait till next summer when they will have a mountain of cap space and get by this year.  And frankly if Bogut is healthy, he would make a good pairing with Pau.  Add in Barnes or Thompson next to Kobe and Nash and that is playoff team.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Houston is the Best place for Howard's BB career---if he cares about his legacy...but It seems like Basketball is not his favorite thing to do...Won't be surprised if he stays in LA----just so he can have his own TV Show.

They'd be a 6 to 8 seed likely -- perfect place for them.  BUT, Bogut takes his 14M off the books after the season leaving LA with a cap number so low that they will be in position to land any FAs (2 or 3 biggies) they want.

It's LA's easy and almost foolproof ticket to contention -- salary reduction and then get whoever you want.  No other team is able to do that with the same confidence that the Lakers can.  It is certain and quick rebuild.   Wonder if Kobe will play for a nominal (relative of course) amount.  Would he play for $5M in 2014-15 if Lakers can land 3 stars?
