Low: Brett Szabo

High: Mehmet Okur

--------

Interesting tidbit: was listening to a podcast with David Locke (our Sean Grande; Jazz play-by-play guy) and he said during the workouts the Jazz had guards to the Jazz 100 -- where they shoot 100 3's in sets of 10 over X mins in diff. scenarios (pull=up, pick&pop, etc).

The bigs do a drill where they shoot 18 shots from diff. spots on the court.

Both are designed to see how a player fatigues, etc.

The Jazz had Olynyk do the Jazz 100 instead of the big man drill... and he hit 63 of 100 threes(!).

This got me thinking that maybe he's a Mehmet Okur type -- a big who doesn't mind banging but has great range.

Okur, for his 10-yr career, avgeraged 13.5 pts, 7 reb and 1 3pt/gm shooting 37.5% in 29 min/gm... if Olynyk comes close to that I'll be reaaalll happy.

Obviously DA saw something he liked, but if KO can't defend or rebound, what's the point?

The team does not have a legit starting center currently.

I doubt it.  Shoots the ball on a more flatter plane , like Brad Miller vs finishing high like KG or nowitzki.

But it doesn't matter. He has a ton of tricks down low plus a steady jump shot.  Its like Al Jefferson part 2. Will be fun to see what new scoring moves he invents as the season moves along

Ainge said he's a PF and not a Center...ideally.

High- American Dirk
Low McHale...Just kidding. :P

I actually watched 20 minutes of Highlights of Kelly Olynyk and I am a bit more excited about a 7 footer who can shoot from all over the court with a nice little hook shot. His FT percentage is over 82% as well. I think we could all be very surprised by how good he might become. He also seems to be great with Pick and Rolls and seems very active as well. I like the motor he displays and passion seems there as well.

Have we ever had a player with initials KO? I think that will be a cool nickname and hopefully he will do that to many of our opponents in the future during the playoffs.

I say KO will be a star in this league and I trust Danny saw the same thing..so much so, he did not want to risk Utah taking him before us.

im starting to feel the same way.  Originally i wnted dieng or at the least Whithey in the second.  But Ko seems more versatile and will give us better scoring options as oposed to perhaps as one dimensional dieng.  Although i think dieng will be a good center somewhere I really like Iverson and think he could really help us out down the road.

I got the best high and low

High: Brad Miller. Watch the clip below. Especially comparable if Olynyk can get a stronger more refined body. Both guys are like twins. Excellent jump shooters, passers, can dribble in for layups (rarely dunks). A player that you can win with

Low: Scola. No matter what, Olynyk worse case will be able to score in the nba, at least as good as Scola.  Just too much skills/weapons/craftiness not to. But the problem will be, lack of ability to develop his body and be somewhat of a liability in the defensive end (especially getting beat by his own man).  In addition not be able to grab rebounds on a consistent basis for his size and bang underneath the post.

Again if you haven't watched the clip above, take a look. Brad Miller and Olynyk seem like the exact type of player. At least 90 percent exact
