Honestly at this point I would rather keep KG for next year than trade for hump and a pick.  Since the talks for Josh Smith I have been liking the lineup of:

rondo
jj redick
j green
josh smith
kg

Not a true contender but a team that can be a thorn in the side of the contenders and be fun to watch.

Im sorry but that is a contending team, as long as we have a good bench.

And i want to have no part with making a trade with the nets, no shot do i want to see KG in a nets uni next year. Dont care if he retired.

I would also say that starting lineup is DEFINITELY a contender and a lineup I would love to have.

G - Deron Williams
G - Joe Johnson
F - Gerald Wallace
F - Kevin Garnett
C - Brook Lopez

....and in all seriousness, even with KG, that roster is not a title contender. That team is not getting past the Heat.

I'm not so sure. The Nets have a ton of talent and little organization. I wouldn't have hired Kidd if I were them but adding a defensive anchor like KG and putting in a system designed to grind Miami might work. Certainly it puts them in the top-3 in the East for at least a year barring injury.

And in fairness no team in the last 2 years has gotten past the Heat.

problem is it might be impossible to assemble.  I hate giving PP to the cavs for a trade exception, but it would be a really big boost to a shorter rebuild / reboot.  I guess I also just want to see 1 more year of KG in green before he rides of into the sunset.

The Brooklyn Nets are pursuing a trade for Kevin Garnett, according to sources.

Garnett is reportedly interested in playing for the Nets.

Garnett would have approved a trade from the Boston Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers. With the Doc Rivers' deal being approved by the NBA, the Clippers and Celtics cannot exchange players until the 14-15 season.

link saying he's interested?

if so, I would probably take

Bos sends: KG
NJ sends : Humpheries,Brooks,2014 pick

Then

Bos sends: PP
Cle sends: TE, 2 2013 2nd rd picks

Flip the New Jersey or Clippers pick along with TE for Josh Smith

PG: Rondo     / Bradley
SG: Brooks    / Lee
SF: Green     / Cle 2nd rd pick
PF: Smith     / Sully
 C: Dieng(#16)/ Humpheries

have two picks in 2014 or 15 depending on which we flip for smith

Got to try and get rid of Bass and Terry's salary somehow.

I think the C's have to consider this if they can dump a salary and get a pick.

Garnett, Lee ($5M x 3 years remaining)

for

Humphries (expiring), Teletovic ($3M x 2 years), 2014 1st rounder

It's not glamorous but moves the needle in a few ways: cap savings, 2 more young assets, tanking in 2014. If Humphries redeemed himself they might even be able to move him at the deadline for something worth keeping.

It's all about asset collection and while there's no rush to move KG, any deal that accumulates more pieces is worth looking at.

Billy King and the Nets are dumb and will overpay. Do NOT take the 2014 pick... not much value... get unprotected pick in 2-3 years when this team completely implodes. Its poorly constructed.

Humphries actually has decent amount of value. He's a very good rebounder and an expiring deal. We could get ANOTHER first round pick by dealing him and taking on a bad contract for another few years. Humphries could be a roll player on a contender.

Billy King linked to an unrealistic trade rumor?

Color me shocked.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I think if KG is traded, it will be to a Western team
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
