Austin Ainge is Director of Player Personnel for the Boston Celtics.

I would like that ,but he would have to accept a buyout , and it would still count against the salary for next year.
Not if he retires.

I assume he'll be paid to coach.

nothing close to 10 mil

wait, actually, what if he retires and then becomes head coach with the c's giving him a decent amount(4 or 5 mil) for 1 year to make up for the money he is leaving ?

If we trade PP for the two cavs picks and TE

Then KG retires

wouldn't we have enough to sign a max free agent?

That is interesting. Bringing up your D-League coach to assistant coach to head coach. Should have a good knowledge of him. Make a strong decision.

It wouldn't be one of my main preferences though. I just think there is so much established talent at the Head Coaching position available at the moment. Unattached and out of contract. Available for hire. That it doesn't make sense to pass up on all those options to hire for a first time head coach.

Would be interesting. Young coach at 38 we'll see.

He'd be the same age as Doc when Doc started coaching in Orlando.  (Though Doc had played in the NBA, then started as an NBA head coach a couple of years later.)  Ainge I think became a head coach in the NBA a year younger, starting just a year after he retired as a player.

But what would be more fitting than a Celtics coach who has coached the Ireland national team?

Not even close.

I am shocked that with Danny's finger all over this that Austin Ainge is not the front runner. Some of you guys see Danny as a genius Machiavelli re-incarnated..nepotism I am sure would be a strong motive for this whole slimy mess of Danny's.

... what on earth are you talking about?

You are saying Danny is slimy and a nepotist because he hasn't hired his son as our head coach? What? And what does that have to do with people thinking Danny is smart? How does this make any sense?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Sounds good to me, but I could see Rondo chewing this guy up.
