I agree with you that it's bush league. The first half of your post seemed like it was going to be in defense of him, though!

Unfortunately, sometimes the last thing people remember are the things that are most present. So people will remember this LA Clipper fiasco and Doc's comments about wanting to be here through a rebuild and all the other drama that ensued this week.

And they should. I'm not defending you anymore Doc. You aren't a Celtic anymore. What you did to this team over the last month plus is bush league and more in line with what I would expect from the spoiled players you coach, not from you. You put your Celtic legacy out there and if it comes back that it is severely tarnished, then you get what you deserve in my book.

Good luck in Clipperville, not.

I am totally with you on how annoying this media circus has been, but I think it might be premature to conclude anything about how much of this mess Doc was responsible for personally.

Not saying that I think he was blameless. Maybe he was, maybe he was not. But I don't think we really know one way or the other. And we may not, ever.

From the outside, the Celtics right now look like a three-ring circus.

Great and thoughtful post, Nick.

Thank you Doc Rivers for all those years of diligent work. You were a strong voice behind some of the greatest Celtic teams I have ever seen. Good luck in LA against everyone but our Celtics!

Busted. I read the vast majority of this post and then hit reply without finishing. I should have read the whole thing. 80% of it was a well thought out recap and even cb history, I loved it. But after reading to the end, I'm disappointed in this. Larbrd33 nails it.

Reading threads like this where people are STILL defending Doc just shows me how much of a genius Danny Ainge is.

The guy literally made a move and created situations where Doc could skiddadle (much like Ray did) and still save face. So glad to have Danny.

Please remember these media sources only report what they've been given. They weren't there just like we weren't; Woj or not.

I can't be mad at Doc this move and the possibility of going to LA before it happened had as much to do with Danny as it did him I'm sure. Danny isn't dumb he wanted to rebuild and aside from Rondo Doc was our next best asset. I mean Danny wanted a 1st rounder and this thing to go through probably as bad as CP3. Lol
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

At this point, does it matter?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Doc was and is a phenomenal coach.  Players love playing for him.  He's one of the best in the league.

Boston wants to tank.  We aren't interested in being a mediocre playoff team anymore.  Danny found a team for Doc to coach that actually will be trying to win games.  I'll miss Doc.  This is a good situation for him... he'll get to coach a vastly superior point guard.  It should serve him well.  And who knows... maybe down the line in 5-20 years if we're relevant again, we can hire him back.

You really are amusing.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

just pointing something out, seeing as how people still hate Ray Allen who was a free agent and had every right to go wherever he wanted.
Does it matter? I mean, when the Cs and Clips meet at TD Garden and it's the diff between boo's and applause -- it could be, if Doc is into that kind of thing. What matters most though is Danny Ainge is a genius is a step ahead. All the time.

Well, we agree on that one.  ;)

There´s just no need to throw Doc under the bus. That´s neither fair nor does it help anybody.
