Reality! Was 1 ring worth all this? I think not. Eventually fans and media will reflect on this. We may walk on Mars before becoming a qualified team again.

Are you crazy?

The entire point is to win a championship. This team won a championship, and were bad luck and injuries away from winning 1 or 2 more.

This era of Celtics basketball has been a massive success, and we are in pretty good position going forward, with a franchise talent in Rondo.

Honestly, by what criterion do you judge a team to be successful if you don't consider the past 5 years of Celtics basketball to be successful? Perennial contenders, champions, Hall of Famers, breaking records ... heck, that 2008 team, along with the 2004 Pistons, the 1996 Bulls, and the 1986 Celtics, is arguably the greatest defensive team of the modern era.

I'm excited too.  We'll likely have 3-5 years of lotto basketball minimum (upwards of two decades), but we'll be collecting assets and there will be plenty of future Jiri Welsches to compare to Larry Bird.

I don't think we'll take that long. I mean we might not win a ship but we won't suck for 10 straight years. As long as Ainge is at the helm we are fine.

Once Ainge is gone?who knows...

Anyone know who Sam presti's fave team and organisation are?
Starts with a B ;)

LB33's sarcasm is duly noted.

And agreed with.

Excited? Hahahahahahahaha. Uh, no.

The Pitino Dark Ages are back, aided and abetted by the vastly overrated Danny Ainge.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I suppose this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but to me the Kevin Garnett era in Boston always felt superimposed. In one year, the Celtics went from one of the worst teams in the league to the best, led by a superstar who at the time really belonged to another fanbase (Minnesota). I have appreciated the last few years of competitive basketball, but they have also left me wanting something more.

I'm looking forward to a new era for the Boston Celtics. I think the Celtics ownership and management are smart enough that the team will still be interesting to watch, even as it goes through a rebuilding cycle. I don't mind losing in order to rebuild.

We missed out on Duncan. Then we missed out on Durant. Perhaps the third time is the charm and we could hit the lotto for Wiggins (the Stern jinx will be gone by next year). If not, maybe there's another superstar-to-be on the horizon. I'm looking forward to see what happens.

I don't know if excited is the right word.  More intrigued.

I feel pretty confident no matter what happens, it is not going to be changes that thrill me.  But it won't be boring either (at least not at first).

I think it will be a fun summer.

Undetermined.

I will be excited if they (1) improve the roster substantially and give themselves a much better chance at advancing in the playoffs, or, (2) restructure the roster in a way that better enables upgrades down the road.

Right now they have done neither.

Yeah, either way would be good for me.

Have a plan after this disaster of a season.
