I know that we don't get anything if PP retires towards a new player, but what about KG? Or do they both need to come off to free up space? Or are we just in the hole next year either way?

I ask just because if the Clips decide just to take Doc and say suckers! to DA ad not go threw with the KG trade I'd have a feeling that KG might just be done.

It be nice to be able to snag either Smith,Iggy,Millsap and then maybe use Bass/Lee?filler to bring in Jefferson.

But if there is no money theres no money and if they both leave and Rondo doesn't come back till Jan. Well we could be in lotto mode. Love to get Wiggins, but thats a BIG dream.

If KG and Pierce both retired, and we released Williams, White, and Randolph, we could get to about $8-10 mil under the cap.  Probably not enough to get that big-time free agent.

if garnett and pierce retire ainge will no doubt have terry gone asap freeing up that $, bass and lee would be iffy
shave doesn't make enough to release him, more valuable (on the cheap) as a 2nd/3rd string big

I'd still expect lotto mode for 2014. Maybe the C's try to bring in one impact FA, but more likely they field a team of prospects (Bradley, Sully, picks and d leaguers) and fall into the deep lotto. Next summer, they'll have a good pick (or two), some developed assets and a lot of cap space to work with. The C's will be about where they were in 2007, but you can't expect Danny to be that lucky again, so it will probably take another year or two to make it back to the top. I think 16 or 17 is a realistic target.

Unless a team with cap space or a trade exception is willing to eat Terry, Lee, and/or Bass's contract, their salaries will be on the books next year.

You are probably right about Shav though.  Cutting him would only save us the net amount of his salary minus the cap hold (rookie minimum salary).

Terry would already be gone if Danny could get rid of him so easily.

Shav may be cheap, but he costs over $600k in cap space.  If you release him, you can always resign him to the minimum after you get the free agent, since you can go over the cap for min salaries.  That said, I don't see Pierce retiring, so it's likely moot.
