I've never seen this kind of drama in sports in my life. It's not like a real life fraud or anything but there are lies, deceit everywhere. And it looks like the main person behind all of this is Danny Ainge.
First tells the public he expects Doc or he will be back, something along those lines. Instead maybe all along he knew, he wasn't going to , but tries to trick the media, fans and other teams to ultimately get a better return back.
And then there is the clippers who have their issue and at the mercy of their star FA Chris Paul telling them what to do. Then you have David Stern, getting a kick out of all of this, and when the trade looks like its agreed upon, steps in with a serious face says no , closes the door and laughs some more.
The stupidity in all of this is that, Danny should of known about the "package" trade that wouldnt have been allowed, unless he is that incompetent. Also its unbelivable that these media guys somehow get info in the matter of minutes. Without them , stern would have little to no clue. What idiots are tipping them off and then media guys being media guys, taking the story to another level, ruining everything?
Bottom line i think preventing these two transaction from going through making these trades legit comes down to trust issues. And stern loves it. 1st) you have Rivers who wants to coach for a contender, but he needs his trusted vets KG and Pierce to accompany him. Then this will guarantee chris paul resigning, then likely working out a Howard deal. But if rivers is first "traded" , what if Danny doesn't trade KG to the clippers after all?? What if Pierce doesn't get bought out or gets traded somewhere else?? And Chris Paul then changes his mind and joins Howard somewhere else. Rivers will be seriously screwed
2) you have the clippers owner then facing the same issue. What if Danny doesn't screw him and trades KG as initially planned, but for whatever reason the KG deal is blocked off, and he can't be traded to the clippers?
3) In all reality even though Danny is so twisted in all of this, bc he is no innocent guy, i'm sure he will in good faith make both of the trades in two seperate transactions. But again what if the league steps in and won't allow the kg trade to the clippers after doc gets traded?? What if he finds a nice deal for Pierce and trades him somewhere instead of waving him as initially promised to the clippers?
In the end i hope this mess gets straightened out soon, especially before the draft. Again this situation is something i've never seen in sports before
