I don't know if Charlotte will be willing to do this.

BG is also an expiring and while Tyrus has been a disaster, I don't think they'll easily part ways with No.4.

I personally like the deal though. We can amnesty Tyrus, let Gordon's contract run out and have the #4, we're talking Alex Len, Victor Oladipo, Cody Zeller.

I'm pretty sure this has been explained about 10,000 times on this forum, but we couldn't amnesty Tyrus if we did this.

You can only use the Amnesty clause once time, and it can only be used by a player who was with the current team AND on the current contract at the time of the new CBA being introduced.

Boston only have two players they could use this on - Pierce and Rondo.  No point using it on Pierce because we can just buy him out for $5M, and no point using it on Rondo because we'd never get a better player than him for what he is getting paid.

Only point is if we did a COMPLETE rebuild, then we could buy out Pierce for $5M and amnesty Rondo for a total of about $26M saved.  Even this would be pretty pointless because we'd be far better off trading Rondo instead, we could probably easilly get back a Josh Smith / Al Jefferson / Demarcus Cousins calibre player back if we put Rondo out there...and even if we tanked we still may not get a better player than that from the draft.

Thomas has one of the worst contracts in the NBA right now, not worth trading for at all.

3 more years at $8 million a year.  Bad for rebuilding.

Michael Jordan is a bad GM and owner but he is far from stupid. He's not going to give up a top 5 pick in the draft to simply cut salary.
