The only aspect of Doc leaving that doesn't sit well with me is the emphasis Doc put on defense - and KG in the driver's seat to help with much of it. Exceptional defense has been an undeniable factor in much of the team's success in the past few years.

Is all of this out of the window when Doc leaves - or - would Danny make sure that defense was in a new coach's bag of tricks?

 ???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it basically Thibs and Lue who put a lot of their effort on defense? Then Doc just upgraded it?

I thought it was Doc who instilled the principles in Thibs, but I could be wrong also. Either way, it's looking like neither will be on the bench this year

If KG is gone our defense goes.

That's also true.

People tend to overlook Perkins wasn't even that good. It was the fact pairing up someone who's a big bruiser in the paint, and was able to box out other Centers to allow other players to grab rebounds, helped Perkins looked even more enamoring.

Not to also add onto Rondo giving Perkins the easiest passes to throw it down.

A team without KG would be hard to supplement any deficiencies in our defense, but at least this Celtics team will be enjoyable to watch in full court.

Perkins showed what he was capable of anchoring the C's after KG went down in 08-09. He was very good in that role, then his knees started giving out on him  :(.

That is also true, but I would say he is and will never ever be anywhere near what KG is able to produce on and off court.

KG is very vocal, and intense. His ability to really get his team pumped up on defense is invaluable.

A lot of people are saying this is a terrible trade for the Clippers, but the Clippers could contend next year if they have a healthy KG/Pierce. Not to mention KG is a big 1-2 year upgrade over Jordan. CP3/Rondo/Rose are the only point guards I can see who could really make KG/Pierce look 5-10 years younger.

Our defense will remain better than our offense, esp if Pierce is included with KG and Doc.
