I like this kid.  I know he has no ACL and all, but might he be available for the minimum and a chance to get a few minutes in Boston?

Thoughts?

I like him as a third stringer.

Not so much a regular rotation player. Too weak defensively and not skilled enough offensively to make up for it. His lack of height/length can be problematic come playoff time against bigger front-lines.

From his comments over the past year or so, I doubt Blair would be interested in a third string role. He wants regular minutes again. So I don't think it is a good fit unfortunately.

Yes, and as a regular rotation member. He's good.

With us, he can be a:
10/6 player.
17/7 per 36.
Jeff Green - Top 5 SF

I even doubt that he would be happy a in second-string role.  He fits the profile of a player who thinks he should be a starter and is a potential locker room problem who needs a coach who will dissuade him from whining about playing time.  He's good enough to be a fringe starter, but not good enough to be treated as a long-term solution who will lock down a starting role for a few years.

If sully isn't 90+% or if bass gets moved I would love Blair as the cs fourth big. He rebounds enough said...

Brandon Bass is also much better than Blair.

Blair is a 6'6" power forward who is a defensive liability.  Not only does Brandon Bass have two more inches than Dejuan Blair, Bass also has two more ACLs.  If you don't understand what I am saying, Dejuan Blair has a 0% chance of tearing his ACL because he doesn't have any.  I would be very wary of a player who has both knee and conditioning problems, and Blair has at times ballooned up to 300-pound territory.

I think you should never hand this guy more than one guaranteed year on any contract.

Sad that Ainge overpaid Bass a little. Couple that with the fact that Sully went down and people are overlooking this guy.

His ability to defend wings like Melo and LeBron plus his seemingly solid work ethic makes him an extremely solid role player.

Sully/Bass is great PF depth.

Celtics fans definitely have a thing for tweeners and undersized bigs.

I wanted Blair last off-season. The Spurs were offering him for a 2nd rounder as I remember and I might have bitten on that except that Danny gave Bass a long term deal and drafted Sully.

A couple of things make me hesitate on him this year. First his knees of course and then his inability to beat out Boris Diaw for minutes. I don't want another Chris Wilcox. We need durable bigs who can rebound. I'd target Hickson for 3M/yr or try to convince Houston to give us Robinson while taking back Fab Melo and maybe a future 2nd + cash. Something creative like that to get us a young durable rebounder so we can move Bass to 3rd string.
