Just sharing here.  I went to game 3 in Indiana.  We went out for the Indy 500 and decided to catch the game and root for the Pacers.

Anywayz, when Ray Allen was announced into the game, there was a huuuuuuugeeeee  boo from the crowd. I assumed it was his merc status but am not sure.

Fantastic bball stadium there btw.

It's crazy how a couple of seasons can drastically change perspective:

Quote
    "I'm shocked," Allen said. "I don't understand it." [...]

Allen first heard of West's potential interest in Boston last month when Allen was playing golf in Augusta with his private banker, who coincidentally also handled West's financial affairs.

"He told me how much I would love [West], that he and I were the same kind of guy -- cognitive thinkers," Allen said. "He said West was interested in coming to the Celtics and would be willing to come for less."

So why does Allen think West had a change of heart?

"Once it got down to the end, I think his ego kicked back in," Allen said. "He wanted the dollars. I guess it comes down to 'What is a championship worth to you?'"

Are you saying Ray's perspective changed? He did take less to go to a contender(well, I mean the favorite). I guess I don't see the contradiction here.

Ray knocked West for choosing Indiana over Boston, claiming he didn't value a chance at a championship.

Now, here we are, with Indiana contending for a championship, and the Celtics (reportedly) about to blow it up.

For Ray a championship is worth taking less money for a lesser role with your arch rival of five years, even after the running mates you went to war with for five years and won your only ring with voiced there opinions to management to keep you when management wanted to trade you.

I can understand Ray being unhappy with management but I think his own ego got in the way when he thought he was every bit as important to the Celtics as KG and Pierce.

I will never understand how you can turn away form the guys you've gone to battle with at the highest level for five years though...even if you are p---ed at management.

I actually think it worked out for the best for us and I know it's "very" old news - but I still find it hard to stomach that you'd leave guys you won with for five years for less money with a heated rival...

He was told he was traded. He would have been a Grizzlie had Mayo not put his foot down. Why would you feel any loyalty to an organization that actively tried to move you months before? Loyalty shmoyalty.

and he lost his starting spot to a guy who can't dribble past half court, can't shoot, basically has no offensive skills whatsoever, just because Rondo preferred having Bradley cover his ass when he gambled for steals, and because he was tired of waiting for Ray to get open off screens.

Ray had every right to do what he did.   I didn't like the way he talked after he left though that bothered me more than him leaving.  I always had a lot of respect for him being a good guy until that moment.   Now, I realize he is a follower not a leader.

Ha! I can't tell if you're attacking Ray or Bradley. I know you think lowly of Avery's game but I actually think his handle's not the problem. Whatever makes a PG's instincts and decision making good, he has the opposite of that quality.

According to rumor the Celtics have been shopping Paul Pierce heavily, too.  Does this also absolve Pierce of his duty to be loyal to the guys he went to battle with and won?  To Garnett?  To Ray Allen?  to the Celtics?  Ultimately I think it is an individual players decision.  They (the players) are the ones on the court and they are the once who know what hurt feelings or family decisions they can deal with.  I do feel that if I were Ray, or Rondo, or Paul...I would have a very hard time giving total effort in what I considered to be an unwelcoming environment.  That is one reason I don't like trade talk...it should be behind closed doors and not open to fan opinion.
