Seems to be writing on the wall that Pierce is likely moving on. Ainge will search far and wide for a trade to get something in return but I'm having a hard time figuring out who may be interested. Although Pierce can still be very valuable I don't see a team giving up a whole lot for him. Certainly no Harrison Barnes or anything close. Does Dallas do a sign and trade for OJ Mayo and Brandon Wright? In my dreams maybe.

Who do you think would have interest in a Pierce deal?

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

You'd probably have to look at a team that has a player or players salary they need/would like to get rid of that equal or are close to PP's.  A team could hoist say %16mil on the Celtics and take back Pierce, take his $5mil buyout and save $11mil against the cap.

That could be a huge deal for some teams, some teams wouldn't care.  Look at what Memphis took back in order to get rid of Gay's contract, and that was while they were in serious contention.

I think Caron Butler and Bledsoe for PP makes the most sense for the c's .

They get an expiring contract back in Butler , and a prospect (trade chip) at the deadline this year , and s+t option the year after .

I don't really want DeAndre Jordan , as I don't think he is very good at anything besides dunking, and he will tie up 10 mil in cap space for the next 2 years .

Josh Smith also makes a lot of sense ,but only if Smith will take something close to his 13 mil a year he makes now .

A team that would want to acquire Pierce for the intention of keeping him would be a team that thinks it can contend.  For example, the Nets could look for an upgrade on Gerald Wallace and send out Wallace, Mirza Teletovic, a first round pick, and maybe Marshon Brooks.  I suppose the Grizzlies under the influence of Hollinger could decide to offer Zack Randolph for Pierce, Sullinger, and draft picks.

The type of team that would want to acquire Pierce is one that would want to waive him and save some money, sending the Celtics a big contract that probably goes beyond next season.  A team like Indiana could theoretically trade someone like Danny Granger for Pierce and create enough cap space to sign or trade for a big contract.  Or a team may be willing to get rid of a solid but overplayed player to increase their chances of tanking for the 2014 draft.

As LC says, there are teams that might want Paul Pierce the player, and teams that might want Paul Pierce's contract.

Combined, I suspect the total is close to 30, although there's probably a lot more teams in the second group looking for some financial relief/reset button. It's a question of what comes back to Boston.

I think all the West teams who made the playoffs could be in play as well as Utah. In the East I see Indiana, and Brooklyn as the most likely suitors.

Btw if we are going to trade Pierce I assume it would be before the deadline his contract becomes fully guaranteed (June 30th). For this reason any trade involving a signed and traded player coming back to us is unlikely. Although we could trade Pierce to a team with cap space giving us a trade exception that we could use for a sign and trade in the future.
