On top of our 45.7% FG% and 53.6 eFG% last game, we hit a fantastic 17 free throws. Out of 17. (Knicks were 17/20) I know that making all your free throws is a pretty uncommon affair here with Boston (I wish we had OKC's FT shooting) and every point counts in the playoffs. We had only done it twice all year and the third time came just in time. It's pretty great that we did it despite extremely subpar FT percentages by KG and PP (relative to previous years)
Looking at KG and Pierce's terrible FT shooting relative to past years:
KG
2004-2005: 81.1%
2005-2006: 81.0%
2006-2007: 83.5%
2007-2008: 80.1%
2008-2009: 84.1%
2009-2010: 83.7%
2010-2011: 86.2%
2011-2012: 85.7%
2012-2013: 78.6%
PP
2007-2008: 84.3%
2008-2009: 83.0%
2009-2010: 85.2%
2010-2011: 86.0%
2011-2012: 85.2%
2012-2013: 78.7%
Bad free throw shooting has lost us many games, believe it or not, and we need to hit our freebies. It's great that Bass shot a ridiculous 86.0% on free throws (150 attempts) during the regular season. Jeff hit a solid 80.8% and JET was great like always, with 87.0%. If we want to get anywhere, we can't afford to waste points and making free throws is a necessity. That's why I'm happy that we've made 24 in a row, and I want it to keep going. Free throws are free, now take advantage Celtics. We could be the league's top FT%-shooting team if we want to.
Keep the streak going!
