  Pierce opted out of a 1 year deal paying him about $22M to sign that deal. In reality it cost them about $6.5M a year for 2 years, as well as being able to spread the cost out over 3 years and avoid a huge luxury tax hit. Managing money that way is pretty smart, unless you don't think PP is worth $2M a year more than Courtney Lee or Jason Terry.

Actually if you just do some research, youll find out that even without the pierce contract, we still can't sign anyone to a significant contract. And you people keep on forgetting the fact that to sign someone they actually have to agree to sign. Not just because we have the money and DA wanted them they will automatically be ours.
